It was an honour to welcome Ten Years Forward: Celebrating a Decade of Women in Sustainable Business at the SDG Media Zone during UNGA. For a decade, Women in Sustainable Business, led by Dana Davis, has brought together a community of women committed to advancing positive, lasting environmental and social change through their work. This anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate not only ten years of progress, but the relationships, ideas, collaborations, and collective impact that have grown from this community. On a personal level, the evening also felt like a reunion, bringing together so many women I have had the privilege of working alongside and friendships created over the past decade. It was special to reflect on how much has evolved, both individually and collectively, over those years. Congratulations to the Women in Sustainable Business community on ten years, and to the many women whose work has shaped its journey. For Mara Hoffman, fashion is about beauty, but not “beauty at all costs”. When she learned about the polluting truth behind the fashion industry, she set herself out on a mission to become part of the change. In 2017, she was recognized as a sustainable designer, following a complete overhaul of her business model in 2015, to focus on ethical production and eco-friendly materials.
