Mrs. & Mr. Ornstein, it’s only right to close out 2019 on you. It’s no coincidence—your wedding sparked the idea of these love notes which have brought me real joy. As we drove back from Palm Springs the morning after your wedding, E’s brother’s toast came to mind...specifically your late grandmother’s words—“leave it to Eric to find an Asian Jew.” And, as crazy funny and unexpected as that moment was, it took my mind on this journey of how truly special your love and all of the love that I’ve had an opportunity to celebrate this year is.⁣

You clearly bring your flair for style and an unpredictable vibe to whatever you do. I loved witnessing the energy and commitment you guys both put forth as you searched for your perfect first house and then bought, furnished and made Jefferson Park home. You two are unstoppable. Whatever you say you’re going to do, you do...in your own way.⁣

Eric, you were one of Martin’s first friends that I met. And I love that our “restaurant chess” (have you been to this one, oh you’ve gotta go there...) turned into a genuine respect and admiration for one another. Thanks for being one of our go-to sources for all good things. It’s no surprise to me that you found Diana. She is such a gem. I love that you truly cherish her. That you are vulnerable (with your many nicknames and just everything) with no cares at all who else is around. And, that you always put her first.⁣

Diana, I love that you made that NY to LA trek to create a home with Eric and succeeded while still managing to find your own path and thrive. And yes, you are a boss beyond your years. But it’s beautiful seeing how the love shared between you two gives you added ammo. ⁣

What can I say to one of my first friends and her new hubby that I haven’t already said?! Well, Mrs & Mr Merveille, if you guys don’t look like you just danced your way right out of an Ernie Barnes painting! You are black excellence in motion. The translation of your name perfectly describes how I see you - a marvel or wonder.⁣

When I think of you guys, I think about the power of dance. And, how dancing is synonymous with joy. surrender. victory.⁣ & just good times.

So it’s only right that you two met on the dance floor. If your wedding entrance is any indication of what that first dance was like, it sizzled, was sweet...an intimate moment shared between the two of you. But the vibe was felt all around you. That vibe had us all sweating it out on the dancefloor at your wedding which beautifully married black Chicago soul to Haitian rhythm.⁣

Jeanette, it brings me sheer joy seeing how the love between you and Adler helps you continue to find your freedom. (It’s very missing piece big O. ;) You guys have that kind of love that gives you both the fuel to grow and become more and more you. Seeing and making dreams that you’ve had forever become real.
