I spent much of the summer getting a grip on the monotype process. It's painting. It's accident. It's chance, yes. All things I make good use of in my painting practice. But, but, but those elements sure are weighted differently. I feel like I'm starting to get somewhere.

New work, nearly done, and not titled. I’ve spent much of the summer trying to wrap my head around the monotype process. I have thoughts, frustrations, and some success. More on that in another post. For now, a return to painting. by @danajonesstudio

Installed some work in Colorado for a collector. I was amazed at how the color shifted in the mountain light. Pretty thrilled with how they are settling in. by @danajonesstudio

In progress, but close to the finish. I had a vision for this pink monster that had a very calm (for me) surface. Too calm: boring. So, let it sit for a bit, then spent the past week wrestling with it, only to end up, color-wise, back at the start. With messier bits. Was tempted to call it Big Pink Fucker, but am going with Track Suit, 6 x 4', acrylic on canvas. by @danajonesstudio

Almost there. installation is wrapping up at Thornback Gallery for my show, Dot Matrix Floral, and for Kent Ambler’s show, Unknown.

What is known is that the opening is tomorrow night Friday, November 7 from 6 to 9 PM.
