indigo💚💙
spending my time getting messy with natural dyes at @wabisabiproject in bagru. just like painting and ceramic to understand the process it’s getting my hands in, physically working with new colours and patterns. creating designs on computer is nothing like being here and understanding how many process going into creating a colour. different colours need base fabric to be treated in different ways, some colours are processed with cold and others are ‘cooked’. the ‘dabu’ mud has been a favourite technique allowing layering and depth. and wow the intricacies of good woodblock design, what works and why is all about play. beautiful ideas are bubbling away.

indigo is the queen! thanks avinash for this great video, see the not unusual sneaky cow walk past at the end while we swing the fabric. watch it change from green to blue as it oxidises with the sunlight.

i have a bag full of colour tests and samples dreaming of what they will become x

today is the first day India to Nepal trip and i already know it’s going to be magical because of the lovely group.

North India Raj & Taj Art/Culture + HOLI Tour
Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Bijaipur - Udaipur
13 days/12 nights
small group, lots of fun

Our journey starts when you are collected from the Dehli airport. Be swept away in tuktuk hustle and bustle of Delhi, followed by a train ride to Agra and the TAJ MAHAL then to The Pink City of Jaipur for woodblock printing and textiles. Next, we head by private bus to experience the luxury of rural Rajasthan during a heritage stay in a castle Bijaipur. Finally, we will make our way to Udaipur, The City of Lakes, join a masterclass in Pichwai painting where together we experience the colour festival Holi. 13 days filled with delight, awe and I am already looking forward to making new life long travel friends.

it’s the little surprises along the way, friendly people you stumble across, the ‘oh you should go here’ experiences and delicious lassi that perfectly cools you down 💙💙

the absolute best thing being an arty business is working with my talented gal friends. last week the sun god finally peeked through the clouds, we packed the van and headed to the conservation park. a lovely morning, wandering the path, full of giggles, kookaburras, soggy jeans, eucalyptus and blooming wattle. life is full of sunshine when you have great friends 🍃💚🌿thank you x

starting to pull together a list of all the things needed for our next trip. India to Nepal, it’s getting close and i can finally start to get super excited. it’s such a thrill and fills my heart that six of the group coming have done a trip with us already and loved it so much they’re coming back. 💕💕 AND we have new friends coming too it’s already such a great group. this is what makes us special it’s that we’re like minded - have the same passion for exploring new culture, new foods, new art and the cherry on the top new friends 🙏🏼

if you’re interested in coming along we have some space in this October tour but i also have openings in the March North India trip 2027
