Palisades Gazebo Park | 1928 | Capistrano Beach

Perched above the Pacific in Capistrano Beach, Palisades Gazebo Park is a small but significant piece of Orange County history. In the 1920’s, oilman Edward L. Doheny envisioned transforming this stretch of coastline into a beautiful seaside community, helping shape the early era of coastal development and offers a glimpse into the community’s beginnings.

Today, Rose Club volunteers help preserve the park’s charm by tending to and fertilizing its roses each month, keeping the gazebo and surrounding gardens beautiful year-round.

Nearly a century later, the gazebo, vintage lamp posts, and concrete benches remain as reminders of Capistrano Beach’s past. In 2024, Palisades Gazebo Park was added to the City of Dana Point’s list of historic sites, recognizing its contribution to the community’s unique character and preserving an important piece of local history for future generations. by @danapointarts
