Sub-4-hour marathon and the best finish with my family. I’m still riding the runner’s high, even if my legs are shaky and sore.

Third official marathon.

My goal this year was to complete a marathon in under four hours. However, I didn’t think I’d attain that goal until the fall. When I realized my 8:40-ish pace was holding steady through mile 20, I began to realize the opportunity was within reach. I kept pushing. I trusted my training and my fueling plan. When I saw Greg and kids with just over 5 miles to go, I knew I could do it.

All I kept thinking about was the finish line and hopefully crossing it with one or both of my children. Up until yesterday, they hadn’t seen me finish a marathon before because of logistics or weather. So having them at the finish line was a huge mental boost for me.

As I rounded the last bend and came off the path, Huck began running toward me. I grabbed his hand and we kept running. Everyone there was cheering for him, and June was waiting with Greg, arms outstretched for mama as we crossed the finish line.

The whole moment was incredibly special.

This marathon may not have the big fanfare you read about with other races, but it was fun, low key, everyone cheered each other on, and the course was beautiful. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect race to cross the finish line with my son. Thank you to STAR Racing for organizing such a great event!

I’ve made the switch to refillable, reusable gel flasks. You can too!

I’ve partnered with @rhoderacesri, @racingforsustainability, and @11thhourracing to test out refillable, reusable gel flasks from @hydrapak. This is huge. I shudder to think about all of the single-use, disposable plastic-pouched gels I’ve consumed over the years during long runs and races.

Through this partnership, I also got to test out fueling with Slopeside Syrup from @untappedmaple, which sent me yummy syrups in bulk inside environmentally friendly containers. During today’s 15-mile run, I fueled exclusively with Untapped from my HydraPac flasks. I felt strong and energetic the entire run, and every sip went down smooth. No stomach issues. And most importantly, NO PLASTIC WASTE.

This was such a fun race in beautiful Hull, Massachusetts, literally on Nantasket beach. My shoes may have been soggy and sandy, but my heart was full. I love doing these races with dear friends from the @stellwagenbeer Run Club.

18th official half marathon. 12th state.

A fellow runner from Mexico was wearing a custom-made tank top that read, “impossible is nothing.” That saying resonated with me during the run. If I told my 30-year-old self that I’d go on to run three marathons and 18 half marathons, I probably wouldn’t believe me. Simply because in the midst of challenging times — and in my case it was breast cancer treatment at 30 — big goals and dreams can seem impossible. But, impossible is nothing. I know I’m fortunate that I get to work toward my goals and keep pushing my body. I’m will keep my new mantra top of mind going forward.

Impossible is nothing.

Special shoutout to my sweetheart, Greg. He found the race and encouraged me to sign up, even though it was on his birthday. He planned our entire California trip with our two little ones, which made for some incredible memories. Happy birthday, Greg! And thank you!

What a great event hosted by @wickedfastraceco. This was my second year in a row participating in the Beach and Back, but first year doing it with a huge crew from @stellwagenbeer Run Club. There were even folks from @colonialrunners who joined us. It was fun celebrating at @thejetty02020 afterward. Congrats to all the finishers!
