I started trying to get back into running a few weeks ago. Last week made me want to quit when I had to bump up to 5 minute intervals. I kept thinking back at how I ran 5-10 years ago. But I don’t remember the start, I remember the races that I enjoyed and am proud of.

I’ve had an amazing friend chatting with me through running this time around, and the other day she asked, “Are you running too fast?” I did not know this was even a question. I figured the goal of running was to push myself as much as I can. But I was dreading my runs, checking the time often of when my interval would be over, and wanting to quit altogether.

So this week…I’ve slowed down, and it’s been amazing!
On my rest interval I got to capture the beauty of a snail in the sunlight. 🐌 ☀️
I also paused a short run interval to hug a neighbor and find out my son is on her church’s prayer list. 🙏 (he broke one wrist for sure, waiting for an mri on the other)
And today I came across a turtle enjoying the road as well. 🐢
AND I ENJOYED my runs! 😄

The Lord has been so good to give these blessings as I listen to the wisdom to slow down. My goal isn’t to push myself as hard as I can to the point of wanting to quit. My goal is to keep getting up each day and be diligent with what the Lord puts before me. by @danaschmoyer

Our gardens are off to a great start! Mostly the flowers are showing off, but my biggest stars are my #familyteam helping to bring everything to life.

I recently had the opportunity to talk to a group of women about #prayer, and tried to stay on my main trail as I spoke. But this post would’ve been my favorite rabbit trail to follow.

My favorite place to talk to God is in the garden. Genesis 3:8, “They heard the voice of Adonai, God, walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze,”

The evening is one of my favorite times to walk and talk with God in the #garden. There’s something peaceful about connecting with God where the story of man began.

If you don’t have a garden to walk and pray in, find someone with one that you can enjoy. by @danaschmoyer

I’m on my way home from a beautiful weekend in Michigan. My cousin got married, and I had a wonderful time with family. I even made a dress in time to wear it to the wedding. by @danaschmoyer

I had an interesting dream the other night that continued a conversation I’ve been having with God about how much I trust Him. Walking humbly with God means I lay down my earthly expectations in situations, be still, and know that He is God. by @danaschmoyer

Every year gets better and better. Blessings to you and yours this Mother’s Day. 🌺 by @danaschmoyer

Happy Passover! The Lord is so good to give us these festivals to remember who He is and to teach our kids. We have been celebrating Passover for over 10 years, and we are still learning pieces that stand out new to us. The Word of God is alive and powerful! by @danaschmoyer

Towards the end of 2024 something felt off to me. And then others in the family started noticing. Tim and I asked a friend’s help to guide us to figure out a family vision that we could focus on and use as a filter for anything and everything that would impact our family.

What we mostly got down to, was that our family needed to focus on the health of our unit of 9. We let ourselves go in different directions for a long time, and all of us started feeling the negative impact of not being in control of our lives.

So when do you implement a big change where we say no to almost everything we had given ourselves to? There was no ideal time, and we forced ourselves to jump in. The fruit that has come of our focused time has been beautiful. Friendships between siblings has grown, and there has been practice for all of us with how to work through conflict. And today… I watched Ezekiel take Halle and Toby on a bike ride for several hours around town, and Hannah stayed home and played games with our youngest 3. It is a gift to watch the fruit of the time we took to focus on our family and build each other up. We desperately needed it. We needed to know that we are a team, and can count on each other.

I had a great laugh last week at the eye doctor!

Anything past 5 inches in front of my nose is blurry. (I just measured with a ruler. 🤣) For the first time since I can remember, I was asked to cover one eye and read the one big giant letter that was on the screen without any help from correctional lenses. I just laughed! I knew it should be an E, but I couldn’t make out any part of it. And then I was asked to cover my other eye and try to read it…and I could see even less of the blurry black color on the screen. I was so tickled that I was even asked to try.

And then, the doctor left for a minute, and I thought of when I’ve seen people try to squint to see something. My vision has been so poor for so long, I don’t remember ever trying to squint. But last week… to my surprise, squinting actually worked! If I squinted a crazy amount and blinked back and forth, I could see the E! 🤣

How’s your vision? by @danaschmoyer

In a society that copes by keeping our schedules busy, and staying in the know, it is easy to lose sight of who gave us this life. Slow down and rest in the arms of our Creator. Invite him in to find the wounds and heal the bruises.

Scheduling a vacation in the winter is tricky and exciting! We scheduled a trip to Philadelphia, and thankfully saw the large snow storm that would be coming early enough to shift our trip a day earlier so we could get home before the storm.

We were able to visit Tim’s side of the family, enjoy a day in Philly, including eating a real Philly cheesesteak, and got home with only a light dusting on our driveway, and were home in time to enjoy the storm from inside our sunroom, watching the beauty of the snow falling. by @danaschmoyer

#chewjitsuopen2026 was a great day for our family over all! Halle competed in a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament for the first time, and Hannah competed as an adult for the first time now that she is 16.
Ezekiel had a great start and a quick end needing to withdraw from the tournament due to a concussion. He had great control and went easy and slow on his opponent when his opponent was in a risky position, but unfortunately did not receive the same respect.
Halle won gold in no gi, and silver in gi. Hannah won silver in no gi, and bronze in gi.

I’m proud of all 3 for stepping out of their comfort zone and challenging themselves. I got to be mom and practice trying to stay calm and helping when I could. I’m thankful for a supportive gym training and supporting them and our family. by @danaschmoyer

Tim and I enjoyed a long weekend away together for a retreat. So thankful for the tools we are learning to keep making ourselves and our marriage better and better. Thank you to all who pitched in and were willing to, to make this weekend possible! by @danaschmoyer
