What an adventure this has been.

A camper cookbook. Made in a camper, while travelling through Brittany. No recipes planned in advance. Just the two of us, a tiny camper and Brittany to inspire us.

Looking back, I still love how easily we stepped into this adventure.

We followed the coast, ate in little restaurants, wandered through markets, met wonderful people and watched how chefs worked with the ingredients around them. We tasted, looked, learned and took all that inspiration back to our little camper.

And then we started creating.

Sandra cooked, I photographed. We tasted, changed things, tried again, and little by little Proef Bretagnebegan to take shape.

People often ask us how on earth we managed together in such a tiny camper. Did we sleep in the same bed? Did we ever argue?

It always makes me smile.

Because somehow it felt completely natural. We talked, laughed, ate, worked and created together. And most of all, we had so much fun making this book.

A few months later we were sitting together at Tijd voor MAX, with Proef Bretagne on the table in front of us. Our book.

And there is something else I really want to say.

Thank you to everyone who has ordered our book.

We decided to publish Proef Bretagne ourselves. So every person who buys a copy is directly helping us to keep making projects like this possible. To travel, discover, photograph, cook and create. And most of all, to share our adventures and the stories we find along the way with you.

That means more to us than you probably realise.

And of course, we didn’t make this book alone.

Thank you @lefrenchfinds for all the beautiful French plates, tablecloths and cutlery that travelled with us.

Thank you @corduroyhuizen for Sandra’s lovely clothes along the way.

A question I’ve been thinking about lately.

One of my works is currently on show at @artsalonanais, and somehow seeing it there made this question feel even more relevant.

Maybe being an artist has less to do with the title and more with giving yourself the freedom to create, explore and follow what makes you curious.

I have spent almost 28 years looking at the world through a frame.

Photography has shaped my life in ways I could never have imagined when I first picked up a camera.

It has taken me to places I could only dream of, but more importantly, it has brought so many wonderful people into my life. People who shared their stories, their wisdom, their way of looking at the world. I have learned so much simply by being curious and by saying yes to the next adventure.

For years, whenever I discovered a beautiful place, tasted something wonderful or experienced a moment I wanted to hold on to, I often thought:

*I wish the people I love could be here.*

Today, in a way, they can.

And I want to share those moments with you — in a way that feels true to me.

Photography is my world. I see life through a frame. And within that frame, I choose what I want to look at.

I choose beauty.

The wildness of nature.
A beautiful piece of music.
A work of art.
Simple, honest food.
A person with a sparkle in their eyes.
These moments make your heart sing.

Beauty, in all its forms, matters to me and I find them often when I am on an adventure.

Someone I met once described an adventurer beautifully: It is the way they look at the world, their curiosity, their endless search, their restlessness, their desire to follow their own path. This is who I am. An adventurer.*

I recognised that spirit also in Sandra.

Two adventurers, brought together by curiosity, photography, food and a love of discovering the world.

And that is how we found ourselves travelling through Brittany in a little camper, cooking along the way, following the landscape and the people we met.

This is what I want to share here. Not just the places I visit, but the way I see them. The stories, the beauty, the people, the lessons and the adventures along the way.**
