KANAKO — MAKEUP ARTIST

-普段は誰かを魅せる側にいる人を、今回はカメラの前へ-

PEOPLE 001は、
"Night Mood"のモデルを務めてくれたメイクアップアーティスト KANAKO。

今回のコレクションを作る前から、
モデルは彼女にお願いしたいと決めていました。
違うものを作っている人同士が出会って、
それぞれの感覚やアイデアが混ざることで何が生まれるのか。
KANAKOの世界と、mosaicの“Night Mood”
その間に生まれた化学反応について。

WHY HER?
From behind the scenes to centre stage

Even before I started creating this collection, I knew I wanted KANAKO to be the model.

As someone who creates things myself, including mosaic, I wanted to collaborate with someone who is also a creator.

I believe that when two people bring their own perspectives and ideas together, something entirely new can emerge — something neither could have created alone. That’s how new cultures are born.

The name “mosaic” itself comes from the idea of different, individual pieces coming together to form something whole.

By bringing KANAKO’s distinctive creative vision together with our new collection, “Night Mood”, I feel we’ve created a unique kind of chemistry that could only have happened through this collaboration.

Q. What first inspired you to get into makeup?

I’ve always loved being creative, ever since I was a child, and I knew I wanted to pursue a career in art. When it came time to decide what to do after high school, makeup artistry just happened to come to mind.

Q. What matters most to you when expressing yourself creatively?

Staying true to myself and not trying to please others. I think it’s important to genuinely enjoy what you’re creating, so lately I’ve been making a conscious effort to listen to myself and understand what I really want.

Q. How did it feel to be in front of the camera as a model this time?

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to modelling, so part of me wondered if I was really the right person for it. But I’m genuinely grateful to have been given the opportunity to try something new.

As a makeup artist, my work wouldn’t be possible without the models I work with, so this experience has made me appreciate them even more. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone I regularly work with.

"YOU CAN'T TAKE IT OFF hoodie"
もうフードを押さえなくていい
取り外せる、フード一体型キャップ。
10月16日発売予定

【WHY I MADE IT】
This hoodie started with something simple.
I was riding my bike, and every time I pulled my hood up, the wind would blow it right back off.
I remember thinking, “I wish there was a hoodie that would actually stay in place.”
That idea became the starting point for this design.

The cap and hood can be attached together to keep the hood secure, or detached and worn separately.
The sleeves are cut extra long and finished with zip slits that open all the way through the cuffs.

For days when you want to hide away a little, for windy rides, or simply when the weather gets colder.
A hoodie that changes with the way you want to wear it.

（I’m using a translator, so sorry if anything comes across a bit weird）

少し自分を隠しながら、
いつもとは違う自分を起動する。

you shift into a different mode too.
Layering different cultures and elements
hiding a little of yourself
and activating a version of you that feels different from the usual.

26歳の今、改めて観るとまた違った捉え方で観れたのがすごく楽しかった
どのシーンを切り取っても絵になる映像
細かな表現が一つ一つストーリーに繋がって
最後まで飽きない。
