2026 has been very good to me so far, so there’s a lot to be thankful for. Andres and I had finally just moved into our new place without any roommates for the first time, and signed our first lease together. A few months later (it was barely 2), I started entertaining the idea of adopting a pet. I did some searching at some shelters, and somehow landed on this dog that was said to be located in Toronto. It led me to another dog who I can’t even remember, but he was in a shelter called Free Korea Dogs. Realized the shelter is really based in South Korea, and frequently adopts to Canada and the USA. I remember thinking that the dog i found was not a match for us, so I browsed through the other dogs looking for homes. I very clearly remember scrolling past Danbi’s photo a few times and reading about a few other dogs until clicking on Danbi’s profile. But when I finally clicked and read through Danbi’s bio, I instantly fell in love. I did not browse for another dog after reading about Danbi’s story and how gentle his personality is. I immediately started convincing Andres for us to rescue a dog, and I was surprisingly successful. So, I guess that I’m thankful that our paths somehow aligned in this big crazy world. I can’t even remember a life without you anymore.
