For many of us survival was having just enough attention, or validation to breathe.
It’s amazing the things we’d sacrifice for it.

Because at one point we learned we weren’t surviving unless we were glowing.
The object of affection.
The talented one…

And our talent brought us out into the light.
They saw we were valuable again.
Even our worst critics agreed.
It’s a powerful force. This feeling.

And so it became a way of being.
A way of living.
Surviving.
But eventually a burden we could not bear.

The invitation was to do the hardest possible thing while being alive.
Stop trying to survive…

To run back to the boy, or girl
who was locked up so many years ago.

And to finally set them free,

We went on the hike of a lifetime.
A father son hike. The west coast trail.
75km over 6 nights and 7 days.

It wasn’t easy, especially since this was Eli’s first hike (and my second)
We were pushed and challenged on every level.
Physical, emotional, mental.
There were multiple opportunities to quit.
Many fears to face.
I was incredibly proud of Eli.
We found something out there we’ll never lose. And yes, we did see a 🐻 bear 😮 taken in West Coast Trail by @danbremnes

And there will always be a story unfolding around us, inviting us in.
Presence again.
It never leaves.
It is eternal in its life… presence. reality.
Some even stay. They build their life around it.
(presence)
And they become so trusting in their love for it.

It’s almost as if life becomes a romance when lived like this.

So crazy! My song ‘going together’ has been chosen for a @starbuckscanada commercial!

This is meaningful on 2 levels.
First, i do love coffee, and @starbucks was how I fell in love with coffee in the first place.

Second. Our family has been in a season of big transition. It just so happens I texted my wife @brittbremnes the exact line that was chosen for this commercial just a few weeks before we got the news. ‘Baby I don’t know where were going, but we’re going together’

The song is over 9 years old, but truer today than ever.

Needless to say, i feel cosmically seen. (although… i still have no idea where we’re going 😆 ) by @danbremnes

The night before the album released there was whispering and hiding around the house.
It was a busy day and we were all tired, but I knew their secret, I knew my son, daughter and wife were busy making release day cards for me late into the night.

The next day they made me feel like the most important man in the world. Not because they had to, but because they wanted to. And it hit me like 3 arrows right in the heart. (The good kind)

That’s when I to realized how my version of success had changed over the years. That my greatest success starts at home, through the eyes of those who know me the most.
And that is enough.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, you can hear the album (which came out on Friday) it’s my favorite work so far, and in my wife’s words ‘this album brought you home to yourself’ and I hope maybe it can do a little bit of that for you too.

After 2.5 years ‘The Hero & The Villain’ is finally done🙌🏻
It started in Costa Rica, it continued in Nashville, then LA, and finally Sweden.
To say the least, a journey. I cannot wait to share the full project with you.

A number of people I know have quietly left social media. No big announcement.

They have decided to live a more hidden and sacred life.

One that isn’t monetized.

To live stories instead of posting them.

They aren’t dropping thoughts on threads.

They aren’t showing up in the comments section.

They aren’t trying to influence, or be influenced.

They aren’t political activists.

They have an unsettling conscience to sit this chapter out. Like there’s a decision to be made between living the life in front of them vs. chasing it from a screen.

They know they can no longer have both. So they surrender the temptation of needing to be digitally seen, validated, or applauded on their journey.

They have decided that their life is already enough. by @danbremnes
