We are so excited for this weekend's sold out Open House event in Croton-Harmon! Last week @mtametronorth F10 413 and Pullman- Tonawanda Valley made their way down the Danbury Branch, along the Northeast Corridor, and up the Hudson Line. Gino Galante braved the nor'easter and was on the hunt to catch our historic consist on its journey!

The repainting of F10 #413 took place in the weeks leading up to its trip to Croton-Harmon for this Saturday's sold-out Open House event. Here are some behind the scenes photos of that process.

This all-volunteer force was fueled by determination, pizza, Chinese food, and the idea of restoring it and running it on the main.

If you caught our subtle hint in yesterday's post, you may have guessed that volunteers have been VERY busy prepping former @mtametronorth F-10 #413 for it's upcoming debut ahead of its 80th birthday later this year.

Our crews spent many hours prepping and applying a fresh coat of "Beach Ball" Red, Blue, and Silver to the locomotive ahead of TONIGHT's trip to Croton-Harmon for NEXT Saturday's Open House event.

Accompanying 413 on this trip is Tonawanda Valley, one of the 1929-1938 Observation cars from The New York Central Railroad's famous 20th Century Limited.

This move is scheduled to leave Danbury at around 11pm tonight, and we want to see your photos! This link will take you to 413's GPS transponder https://locate.brickhousesecurity.com/locator/index.html?t=3e540ee180e24d83ea13fe616cbf0e52FE39C0BE8F9D3DA1514F034815E0F4763E637E27

⚠We'd like to take a moment to remind folks that trespassing on railroad property is not only illegal but also extremely unsafe. Always stay at least 25 feet back from the rails, and keep to public property.

Boston & Maine Vintage Railroad Equipment Delivery To The Danbury Railway Museum

Boston & Maine (BM) Railroad 1127 (ex-LS 600, exx-LS 30, née-BM 1127, SW1, EMD, 8/1953) and Boston & Maine Railroad boxcar 76187 (Pullman Standard, 1957) arrived at the Danbury Railway Museum (DRM) on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Both pieces of equipment were delivered by The Housatonic Railroad Company, Inc. ’s NX10 from Canaan, Connecticut, utilizing GMTX 2142 (ex-UP 771 (GP38-2), née-CRIP 4333, GP38-2, 11/1976).

Boston & Maine Railroad 1127 is the only BM SW1 that was equipped with MU controls. It was purchased from Progress Rail, but had been operated by Luzerne & Susquehanna Railroad for many years. The unit is substantially complete as built and was acquired using donor funds. It was stored operable a few years ago, and the work to return it to operation is already in progress. The Danbury Railway Museum text and Boston & Maine logo were added for the journey to Danbury from Pittston, Pennsylvania.

Boston & Maine Railroad boxcar 76187 was donated to the @berkshirescenicrailway (BSRM) in 1985. The car has mostly been used for storage over the years. The BSRM hosted the BM 1127 at its Lenox, Massachusetts yard while it was in transit, which also allowed it to be displayed at “Canaan Railroad Days” this year. The museum then voted to donate the boxcar to the DRM so that the two could be paired.

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the museum will be open, and both pieces of BM equipment will be on display for the public for the first time.
