WHY FLAMENCO FOR KIDS? Flamenco is so much more than learning to dance!!!

💪 #StrongBodies — posture, balance, coordination, flexibility & strength
🧠 #StrongMinds — rhythm, musicality, memory, focus & concentration
❤️ #StrongSenseofSelf — confidence, creativity & emotional expression
🤝 #StrongConnections — teamwork, empathy, community & cultural awareness

Children move. They listen. They create. They connect. And they discover just how much they’re capable of. “¡Ole con Ole y Ole!” taken in Flamenco 4 Kids by @danceflamencodc

Founded by Magdelena, Dance Flamenco DC was created in efforts to blend the founder’s deep care for flamenco dance and education. Dance Flamenco DC provides a space for dancers of all ages and levels to learn about the history, stylings, and technique involved with flamenco. Dance Flamenco DC partners with My Sister’s Place to build the Fire Within – a program that works to ignite spirits within survivors of domestic violence through the celebration of Flamenco. You can catch Dance Flamenco DC at St Anns Gym from 7-7:20pm at Tenleytown Art All Night! by @danceflamencodc

@rikudstudio wants its students to learn how to move based on how they feel, not how they look. That means no mirrors, no ballet, and no recitals. “We want kids to grow up loving dance for their entire lives,” says Caila Moed, founder and executive director of the studio in Brooklyn, New York.

This is just one example of a new wave of studios opening around the country that have a completely different approach from traditional studios. @danceteachermagazine also chatted with @the_collectivestudios and @danceflamencodc, two others that are helping to reshape studio culture, training models, and community engagement.
