Dear Friends, with great enthusiasm we want to share with you that after almost three years of work, crisis, ruptures and changes, lots of emails and videocalls: The Dancehall Archive's 1st book publication (Prof. Hope's 7th book) is now in print and will be available in early August. We are really happy!

Dancehall Queen: Erotic Subversion/Subversión erótica is a bilingual book focused on the Dancehall Queen phenomenon that emerged from a dance style performed only by women. It carried the fashion, attitude, and style that cemented this phenomenon from inside the Dancehall. Created in 1992, it transformed into a contest in 1999, within the context of the musical and cultural scene that developed around Dancehall and the rise of the Soundsystems within the popular neighborhoods of Kingston, Jamaica. Today, it has spread
across the world.

This publication marks the new phase of The Dancehall Archive and FIEBRE Ediciones, which would not have been possible without the creative output and energies of the women and men of Jamaica's dancehall culture; the advice of @itstimealready_; the art proposal and design of the incredible @rebeca.no.sabe.nada of @miauediciones; and the translation and proofreading of gwennhh, who joined the editorial team in the final stages of editing and production.

Thank you very much for your patience and all the support you have given us. Without you, it would not be possible. We want to continue telling stories of resistance in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Soon, we will share with you the presentation dates and places and distribution points. 🔥🏴📖🐯
