I’m so hype to finally show my dance reel! It took me a little minute to put this together, but I’m really proud of it and it just brings back so many lovely memories. I’m so thankful for all the teachers, mentors, dance studios, artists, friends, and choreographers that helped me get to this point.

When I started training in dance more consistently in my mid twenties, I wasn’t even thinking about dance as a career. Hell, I wasn’t even thinking about performing. I just knew that I was having a hard time and that my weekly jazz class at Dance Place in DC made me feel a lot better. There are still many things I want to do with dance, but this is definitely one of those moments where I can look back and be like “Damn Marci, you really did that”

I’m proud of you, boo 💜

WaackAttack Presents:

✨✨✨The Takeover✨✨✨

Starting next Friday October 16th, we will be hosting weekly Friday sessions from 7pm-9pm at @steadfastdancecenter . The purpose of this space is to practice our waacking, condition our bodies, and kiki as we ready ourselves for the true classroom; the club!

Our goal is to take waacking back to its roots and celebrate this style under the disco balls that birthed it 🌻

If that sounds exciting, come session with us and then party with us! 🪩⭐️

Each week, we’ll circulate what’s going on in Chicago and where The Takeover is headed next. Think dance crew meets club kids, let’s make it a party y’all!

Wanna party with us? DM me (Marci) or @waackattacksessionchi if interested in updates and joining our group chat!! Hope to see y’all on the dance floor!

🥈Runner-Up Waacking Category🥈 @waacklanta

Chile I don’t even know where to begin! Waacklanta will always have my heart 🥹It’s such a special space and being able to waack where I grew up maintains its magic every time. The love and energy in the space is so abundant and this year felt particularly special.

So thankful to @nubiannene for her intention, wisdom, and creativity throughout the several days. She reminded us all of the celebration of Blackness and club culture that is waacking and it was so needed 💕

Also my Team Essence gurlies @super.mercado.22 and @__floyy were such a ki to dance with! Love that Floyy and I actually got some points this year 😂

Thank you @cathym0924 and @lilytanzt_ for capturing my rounds. And also thank you to @roaming_photographer_ga for the gorgeous photos! And lastly, congrats to @cruella_the_waacker for the win!! ⭐️⭐️

Whew lawd anyway this is prolly too long lmao but I love waacking, I love Atlanta, and am just so happy this space exists 😭😭

I was beyond blessed to have the opportunity to study abroad in India for nearly 3 weeks. I got the chance to study at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and meet so many curious, hilarious, and wonderful students. I have a novel’s worth of thoughts, but just know I’m incredibly grateful and India has my heart frfr ❤️
