July ‘25 • Don’t wait. Do it all now. Drive through the redwoods to your favorite beach and swim in the ocean. Spend time with your parents. Carve out the space for a week with your best friend and her beautiful child. Perform with people you love. Teach alongside the legends who raised you. Choreo... by @dancer.nickk

37, here we go 🎈

36 held joy but it also held a lot of loss. I suppose one can’t exist without the other, and each inform their counterpart. But when I look back, these were losses that had to happen - each was ready to leave. When speaking with my beautiful grandmother before her death, she related it to leaving a home she’s known for a very long time. “It’s very sad and I will miss it very much, but it’s good to let it go. It became more than I could handle.” I understood. Sometimes our bandwidth reaches its max without our even being aware. One day you wake up and you’re empty, out of solutions, out of tries. That has to be ok. We have to be able to run out of steam, to call it when we’re ready. We have to be able to lose for a chance at peace.

What I’ve garnered from it all is that bandwidth can be rebuilt, refueled in a healthier, fully conscious form. the answer is never to close off, to shut down, to give up completely. Instead, healing has always pointed me toward reinvention, reforming, a renewal where healthy energy is actually able to generate on its own, simply because of a gentle, daily approach to growth. Either way, evolution only happens when we let go, loosen our grasp, allow what’s coming, and accept it, fully. by @dancer.nickk

38 🎈

If we’re lucky, our journeys are long. The hurdles never stop, but neither does the joy.
Tons learned, endless more to discover.

George had endless amounts to give. He wasn’t always the most delicate in his delivery, but he was always the most loving, most direct, most genuinely gentle at heart. In the two and a half years of knowing GG, he changed me on a cellular level. Our crazy nights eventually became quiet one on ones w... by @dancer.nickk

Two weeks into 2024
I’ve always chosen career over everything. “Balance” and “boundaries” weren’t words I often used or even knew how to place, especially when it came to dance. For me, dance hasn’t ever been a team player. It’s demanded everything and I’ve given it everything. In many ways, the sheer magic of dance throughout last 16 years was enough. Glimpses into the super human satiated, the strife and struggle felt purposeful, until it all finally fell short. 2023 was the first year I chose life over career, chose all the experiences that kind of understanding brings. 2023 was also the year I began working at the Met Opera 🥰, had my worst professional experience to date (don’t ask for details) and worked on many other beautiful creations. But it’s the seemingly smaller things that’ll stick with me. The friendships, the late nights, the deep love. There comes a point where the little things become points of massive brilliance by which we create our lives, or maybe it’s merely a point where we finally realize they’re what’s mattered all along. Dance isn’t over for me and what comes next may take even more concentration and drive, but 2023 was my first peek into what having balance and boundaries can look like. Cheers 2024, I trust you because I trust myself🥂 by @dancer.nickk
