Mexico City happened because people showed up for it.

To everyone who donated, shared the work, bought a ticket, or simply told someone about it — thank you. Taking Love Alone across a border took more than choreography. It took travel, production, rehearsal time, and a community willing to invest in what this work could become somewhere new.

You made that possible.

Our time in Mexico City didn’t end when the curtain came down. While there, Artistic Director Keith A. Thompson led two master classes, creating an opportunity to move, teach, learn, and connect directly with members of the local dance community.

These moments of exchange are an important part of what we hope international work can become: not just bringing a performance somewhere new, but building relationships with the artists and communities we meet along the way.

We’re grateful to every dancer who stepped into the room with us!

There’s a lot growing at danceTactics.

1. Love Alone has crossed borders.
2. The Negro Mother is reaching film festival audiences around the world.
3. New international relationships are taking shape.
4. New work is developing.
...And we’re continuing to explore how movement can connect people, histories, communities, and ideas.

Every performance, class, collaboration, conversation, and new relationship adds another layer to what danceTactics can become.

What happens when a work crosses borders?

For danceTactics Artistic Director & Founder Keith A. Thompson, bringing Love Alone to Mexico City was about much more than presenting a performance. It was an opportunity to listen, connect, and discover how the work resonates within another culture.

As Keith reflected:

“At its heart, Love Alone is about human connection, and seeing that connection happen across borders was one of the most meaningful things I took away from this experience.”

Mexico City reminded us that performance can be the beginning of a conversation, and sometimes, the beginning of a much larger relationship.

Mexico City, through the lens. 🇲🇽

This August, danceTactics brought the Love Alone Anthology Project to Teatro Benito Juárez, sharing the work with a new audience and stepping into an exciting new chapter for the project.

We’re still reflecting on the performances, the conversations, and the connections made along the way. For now, a look back at some of the moments captured onstage.

Inspirada en Love Alone: 18 Elegies for Rog, del activista y escritor Paul Monette, la obra transforma la poesía en un poderoso lenguaje escénico para reflexionar sobre el duelo, el amor, la memoria y la comunidad frente a la epidemia del VIH/sida. Yesterday, the full cast and crew of danceTactics’ “Love Alone Anthology Project” arrived in CDMX 🇲🇽. On our way back to the historic Hotel Maria Cristina, we happened upon our home away from home for the week, the Teatro Benito Juarez, where we open tonight.

We’ve arrived in Mexico City! 🇲🇽❤️

After months of planning, rehearsing, dreaming, and preparing, the danceTactics performance group has officially arrived in Mexico City.

Tomorrow we begin technical rehearsals, and soon we’ll share Love Alone Anthology Project with audiences here—a work that honors love, remembrance, resilience, and the power of community to carry us through life’s most difficult moments.

Standing here, I’m reminded that none of this happens alone.
