POSTS STORIES REELS
One year ago today, Team DanceWorks Chicago hosted a unique Bon Voyage party, one that sent the company off on its final Hallo, Deutschland! tour as well as brought dance family together to celebrate commUNITY! 🙏 Grateful to Salesforce Chicago for the spirit of ‘Ohana and to Mother Nature for incredible weather, including a lovely sunset! 🌅 Whether you were with us in person or in spirit, take a few minutes to (re)visit the Bon Voyage Party slideshow, comprised of photos from a magical evening, taken and generously shared by special humans! 🔗 https://vimeo.com/1197413422 #AlwaysMoving #StillMoving #ShowUpForTheGlowUp #DanceFam #commUNITY by @danceworkschicago
It’s World Gratitude Day! 🙏🏼 Yes, that’s a thing. Gratitude is abundant, including for @thodosdancechicago welcoming DanceWorks Chicago to Team New Dances in 2018! One communal heARTbeat in support of 42 New Dances featuring 111 Chicago-based dancers created in spaces across Chicago, danced on screens (hello, Covid!) and in live performance venues made possible by movers, makers, mentors, administrators, production staff, interns, donors, community partners, and enthusiastic audience members! This Sunset Season, DanceWorks Chicago played a supporting role as Thodos Dance Chicago crafted New Dances / New Horizons, a microgrant program for Chicago-based dancemakers. Stay tuned to see what Melissa and Emma are cooking up in 2027! #AlwaysMoving #commUNITY #AttitudeOfGratitude by @danceworkschicago
💌 Grateful for the invitation to celebrate personal milestones with our German dance family! In addition to commemorating a Silver Wedding Anniversary and a pair of Golden Birthdays, it was a pleasure to personally extend heARTfelt gratitude to @norddeutschekonzertdirektion for a decades-long pARTnership with Hubbard Street 2 and DanceWorks Chicago, built on belief, trust, mutual inspiration (and perspiration), support, respect, creativity, and love. So many people touched. So many memories made. Herzlichen Dank 💖 #AlwaysMoving #AttitudeOfGratitude #commUNITY #gemeinschaft by @danceworkschicago
The ☀️ has set on SEASON 18+. Team DWC has been on board with a fade to black that is filled with gratitude, joy, commUNITY, and, yes, even fun! Whether you were with us in person or in spirit for last week’s Sunset Cruise, the day of DWC’s final public event turned out to be a metaphor of sorts for the Art of the Journey: It’s not always smooth sailing; however, it’s important to practice showing up even when (especially when) you are unsure of the outcome. Good things can happen! ART.IS.TRY. 🛥️ And the Sunset Cruise was magical. 1️⃣0️⃣ / 1️⃣0️⃣ Highly recommend. Shout out @wendellaboats and the beautiful City of Chicago!!! 🙏🏼 Grateful to DWC Co-founders, Board Members, Mentorship Council Members, whether near or far! BELIEVE. 🙏🏼 Grateful to artists on stage / behind the scenes / in front of laptops along with supporters of all kinds. #commUNITY #AlwaysMoving #StillMoving #Sunset by @danceworkschicago

⭐️ DanceWorks Chicago is on the other side of AlwaysMoving Day, having moved out of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, our home since January 2008, earlier this month. 🙏🏼 Grateful to Gail Kalver for the introduction and to the Ruth Page Center for welcoming a new neighbor to the in-residence commUNITY over 18 years ago! Thanks, Team RPC, for hosting a fare well event so that folks could pop in to say “hello”, check out DWC memorabilia before it was delivered to The Newberry Library to join the archives (what an honor!), and contribute a memory to the post-it board! EnJOY these collages filled with photos of a few of the many folks who have been part of the journey as co-founders, board members, funders, supporters, neighbors, torch (or ghost light) bearers, commUNITY PARTners, and artists 💖 #AlwaysMoving #StillMoving #commUNITY #GoodDanceCitizen #ArtIsTry by @danceworkschicago
Showing 🤍 for Chicago-based grantees awarded 💰 through DanceWorks Chicago’s one-time only MICROGRANT to support professional development via opportunities offered locally, nationally, and internationally! Approaching sunset, Team DWC continues to center individual artists as well as keep money circulating in the sector. #AlwaysMoving #StillMoving #commUNITY #sunset #microgrant by @danceworkschicago
🤩 Chicago-based artists showed up and showed out this spring, making their cases for professional development and staking their claim to money set aside in DWC’s Microgrant Fund. Every dollar has been spoken for, so the application portal is officially closed (yes, in advance of the June 30 deadline...remember the rolling assessment approach?!). 2️⃣1️⃣ Chicago-based movers successfully submitted materials and were granted support for participation in growth opportunities offered locally, nationally, and internationally! 💰Team DWC crafted its first-ever microgrant to benefit individual artists as well as keep money circulating in the sector. Grantees received funding for studies in ballet, composition, contemporary, Countertechnique, Dunham technique, flamenco, FOCO technique, Fosse technique, improvisation, jazz, modern, repertory, voice, and more! Reading about plans, dreams, goals, and dance citizenship has been exciting and inspiring! 👏🏼 Kudos to all who reached out, and congrats to grantees who were awarded funding to support their ongoing education. #AlwaysMoving #StillMoving #commUNITY #sunset #microgrant by @danceworkschicago
