Oh boy.

Raced @kismetcliffrun yesterday, which was going somewhat more positively than I figured it may. Well, until I blew through a turn in the final bits of the race and added on just over a mile in total. I couldn’t afford to lose that much time and keep my position so I slipped back a couple spots to fourth. This means I’ll take home $750 for my efforts, oh well. A challenging season just keeps giving !

Frankly, it’s been an extremely difficult year but I know eventually my body will be back to normal and I’ll start enjoying this all a bit more again.

Really cool to have @skyrunner__usa out there - hoping this is something we can keep rolling in New England!

Not claiming to be ‘back’ yet but this past weekend was a step forward.

2nd place @sunapeescramble which served as the US Classic Championships this year.

I really enjoy this intense style of racing but it’s always better with @tomhooper603 and @pkrunswithdogs running the event.

Ultimately it was really nice to lineup. This wasn’t an easy starting line to make it to. Post-surgery recovery was much slower than we hoped for (wishful thinking). There was a full panic moment in the last 2 weeks where I couldn’t run and bought a bike off FB marketplace… but the build is never perfect is it?

Heading to France here soon to race @marathondumontblanc at the end of the month! Really excited for that one.

Back in New Hampshire for some racing this weekend! A LOT of time out on trail since the last race and I’m genuinely excited to see where the fitness is at. Coming back from surgery has been a lot harder than expected but we line up anyways.

2026 Season opener tomorrow…just happens to be US Champs, should be tough!

Running continues to be the best thing in the world.

Since I found running as a little kid it has been the opportunity that has opened doors to places and experiences that I never would have thought possible for me.

Adventuring around Chile/Argentina with great friends? Sleeping on the beach under a volcano? Getting stranded in abandoned towns 50k from where we need to spend the night? Living off of gas station empanadas with @remi_leroux_ ? Surely that’s about as good as things get.

I’ve been doing a bunch more volume than normal ( thanks to @jackkuenzle ) !

Pretty much I’ve been running around in the woods eating sugar all day. For example…today I had ~2200calories during my run. Slowly figuring out that soft flasks w/ filters and pre-weighed ziplocs of @openfuel are the best way to survive being out in the snow all day. I’m slowly progressing beyond starting runs with 5+ liters and bags of nerds, I’ll figure this thing out eventually.

What else am I missing here ?

Start in Santiago, drive for 75 minutes into the mountains, once above the smog, check your altitude. ~2500m? Sounds about right. Ditch the car. Start “running” up. Pick your line and go. No real impediments in this region of the Andes. High enough? Just about right for our preparation. More fuel and water required for more time out. Once satisfied with your position take in your surroundings.

Turn tail and get back to town. The final step? Finding a ride the 50k back to Santiago at 9pm? Good luck. A mix of hitchhiking and frantic taxi service calls won’t work. After resigning yourselves to a roadside dirt nap a police officer comes and saves the day. First day of south america trip in the bag.
