“A life shaped by love leaves marks. And learning how to live with those marks doesn’t mean failure.”

Words from the book I wrote as I considered the marks of depression and the seething anger I carried for a long time after we lost you.

Now, most often, I consider the marks of your light, your wisdom, your intellect, the way you could finish an entire crossword puzzle before I figured out the first clue, your hearty laugh, and your care that ran so deeply nothing could shake it—attested to by anyone blessed enough to experience it.

Yes, a life shaped by love leaves marks.

And I proudly carry the ones you left with me, now and forevermore.

I started posting my stories because I hoped and expected some people might enjoy them.

What I didn’t expect was for people to tell me my voice brought them peace, that they felt seen in my stories, or that they’d save and share them with people they love.

Reading comments like these reminds me why I started sharing in the first place. Truthfully, it isn’t always easy. I still get nervous every time I hit record or go live. ☺️

People think of Jamie Foxx and remember The Jamie Foxx Show, Unpredictable, Blame It, or that hook from Gold Digger.
But as for me and my house? This jawn lives rent-free in our heads, especially when we need a smile. 😂
