Today’s the day! Something Like This is out everywhere on @punkertonrecords !!!! Seems like it’s going OK cause we got on a Spotify editorial playlist which is insane to me 🤯 but we couldn’t have done any of this without the help of our very awesome label and our very very awesome scene.

Huge thanks to everyone that made this song and video and scene possible. @pete_steinkopf thank you for recording us and hanging with us and playing guitar on this song. It’s been so much fun hanging out, partying, and talking music.

@jaytimbalake @blackplatepro thank you for absolutely crushing this video and all of these teasers and just generally being an awesome dude to know and work with. Really appreciate it homie.

@fujidevonami @local506 sorry I ate your ice cream, but it was fucking delicious. @bythebeerofzeus @twinhousemusic sorry Dan and Daniel were tapping your forehead so menacingly. But seriously think both of you guys for everything. 506 and Twin House are both pillars of the scene here. When I was younger, I would go to shows at 506 and dream about maybe one day getting to play a show there and now I’ve done a ton, which means the world to me. Y’all have been huge in making this band even fucking possible and I can’t say thank you enough. Twin House, y’all are some real ones. Thank you for all the hours that I have been allowed to spend there testing out pedals and distracting all the workers with my incessant questions. Big love.

And a huge thanks to all of our friends who came out on a hot summer day to stare at your phones while we played you a song. @gmurrayanderson @jogianderson @jordanandthepitbulls @aaronjaymus @nicklala Colin and all the kids. We love y’all! taken in Chapel Hill, North Carolina by @danepunkertonpr

NEW SONG/VIDEO TOMORROW!!

I can’t wait for this one to release. We filmed the video on the hottest day of any year ever in the hottest place in the world, which is a scientific fact, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I had to do a scene where I was singing into a melting ice cream cone and it got everywhere. We had a blast filming this at some of our favorite places in town with some of our favorite people who I’m gonna shout out tomorrow, but for now, just stay hydrated.

“Nobody can gatekeep you if you don’t give a shit”

I usually write pretty tongue in cheek songs. Especially on this new record good lord. But this one is sincere. I wrote it intending it to be a message to my kids when they get older and things become more complicated. The message behind it is that if you want to do something or be something, don’t listen to the people who say you can’t or aren’t. If you find something in this fucked up world that absolutely sets you on fire then don’t let anyone stop you or make you doubt yourself. When the song was finished, I thought maybe people other than my little girls might like to hear that message.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to Garrett Barefoot who knocked it out of the park in terms of shooting and editing and putting up with our ridiculous ideas. @jaytimbalake @blackplatepro by @danepunkertonpr
