… the juvenile starlings, presumably guided by some adults have their flight training.. they won’t migrate just yet but need to trigger their murmuration instincts and to learn their landmarks so.. this short summer is slowly coming to an end even though down here on the southeastern seaboard it will linger for another couple of months, with any luck., but the birds know and some have already left there are no swifts left which feels particularly sad as there weren’t many of them at all this year next year I hope to be able to put up some nesting places.. the swallows are still here though, a consolation; that particular summer feeling prolonged.. I’ll cherish what’s left and won’t think ahead, just yet.. #flighttraining #summersend #allthebirds #starlings #danettequartey taken in Baskemölla Hamn by @danettequartey

..in the orchard, where I’ve planned for a stint with the mower under some of the apple trees, I first went into my studio/gallery/workshop and started putting soft duvets onto the two daybeds instead I was struck by how far I’d come from the wise words of Tricia Hersey of the @thenapministry .. that rest is resistance … yes I’ve taking things slower and had my own small acts of rebellion choosing my pace as much as possible, but I’ve neglected to let myself just take a load off in plain daylight, just taking time out to rest … so, that’s what’s gonna happen now, even if it’s just for a short while.. and the grass will still be there once I’m back on my feet again #aloadoff #restisresistance #reconnecting #danettequartey taken in Folk & Frukt by @danettequartey

Fun was had by all and some interesting prints as well in this very rapid micro workshop. I might need to put together a full workshop for this autumn… #workshopintheorchard #ecoprint #danettequartey taken in Folk & Frukt by @danettequartey

.. being back in Pembrokeshire in Fachongle is bliss .. short stop this time, but still bliss.. a new member of the family will celebrate names given/recieved, and I get an opportunity to cuddle and coo and look into those fresh exploring eyes of someone who sees the world as a nut to crack, and an adventure .. and Wales has this eternal feel to it .. the landscape feels both placid and fierce and a force totally unto itself I feel like a visitor granted permission to walk the lanes, fields and forests and once I leave the land will carry on without sparing me a single thought .. AA small fraction of all the amazing and beautiful objects I got to see nine years ago at the Textiel Museum in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Happy memories indeed! by @danettequartey

The sea and the sky were heartbreakingly beautiful late last evening.. it didn’t matter at all that I should’ve been in bed instead of rushing out into the night (thank you @asa_norell for driving and being encouraging!) to turn off a faucet to a)avoid disaster including water in a time and place battling drought, and b)enabling me to sleep without tossing and turning imagining said disaster. Ah, life! #midnightrun #thebeauty #friends #danettequartey taken in Baskemölla Hamn by @danettequartey

Midsummer braiding,if not Sweetgrass, so at least grass from our meadows around the orchard. I didn’t have time to finish what was supposed to culminate in a crown, but still, I find my efforts pretty enough. Thanks to jennyahlner for guidance and inspiration! I hope we can do this again! #slowwork #braidinggrass #weavinggrass #handiwork taken in Folk & Frukt by @danettequartey
