🇬🇧 Finished my latest mural, "The Foundations", for @waterfordwalls , in collaboration with @institutocervantesdublin

A special thank you to my little Daniel for being the best model for this one… actually, the very first time.
I’d never dared to do it before… Maybe sometime soon I’ll feel ready to tell you a little more about that and what this piece really means...

Calblanque by @danferrer_art

Who better to tell the story of the Moniker Mexico Artist Residency than the artists who lived it themselves? 🇲🇽🎨🗣️

In this clip, one of our four finalists, Dan Ferrer, shares his thoughts of the residency and how the community of Tulum welcomed him with open arms - calling the trip a “mix of vacation and work, which ultimately ends up being a pleasure trip.” ☺️☺️☺️

🌍♥️ Our inaugural residency attracted nearly 300 applicants from artists across the globe, all eager to be part of this unique opportunity. For 10 unforgettable days, four selected artists enjoyed an all-expenses-paid creative escape to Mexico.

In partnership with @tulumartclub, we brought the Moniker Foundation’s vision to life - creating a space for artists to live, connect, collaborate and create in one of the world’s most breathtaking locations.

👀 Curious to see what went down? Watch the full residency recap via the link in our bio.

IT COULD BE YOURS

“La Canastera” (details below) is currently available for acquisition.

For pricing, conditions, or any questions about the artwork, feel free to contact me directly via DM.

LA CANASTERA
110 × 110 cm / 43.3 × 43.3 in
Acrylic and spray paint on canvas
Original artwork

THE STORY BEHIND THE ARTWORK:

With my little Lola as the model, La Canastera draws on an image that lives in the memories of several generations in Spain: those brightly colored chicks once sold at street markets.

For some children, they were a source of fascination and a childhood memory. For others, they were part of the family trade: they were the children who dyed the chicks that would later be sold at the market.

The same scene. Two childhoods. Two realities.

Surrounded by everyday elements of Mediterranean culture, La Canastera turns our attention to that other side of the story.

¿Ya has visto el mural en Waterford?
