Did you know the municipal election is Monday, October 26th? DECA is a non-partisan community association that strongly believes in civic engagement. To help foster that engagement we’ve invited all of the candidates running for City Councillor for Beaches-East York (Ward 19) to meet voters at our Farmers’ Market, Thursday, September 24, from 3-7pm. We encourage you to attend, ask questions, and voice your concerns and hopes for our neighbourhood and city. PS - make sure to support our local Farmers and businesses when you come! This week we have… 🎶 Live music with Fraz Milne 🪁 Kids Zone hosted by The Space 🪴Community friends the Department of Neighbo(u)ring will be hosting “Vote With Your HE/ART: We Are the HE/ART of the City,” which they describe as “a small, playful, strictly non-partisan public activity designed to get people thinking and talking about what matters to them in their community ahead of Toronto’s municipal election. 🎊Pop up vendors Decreto Cafe, Ketodelia, and Bitter Better 🍺 Fairweather Brewing Co. 🗳️This week at the market you can meet all ten of the candidates running for city council in our ward! The DECA Arts Fair is just 2 more sleeps away! And we wanted to take a moment to thank @marymargaretbey for her support helping us bring @muuse.ca to the Fair! While we love big community gatherings and supporting the Arts, we are mindful of the waste such an event can create. Muuse will provide reusable dish-ware for Arts Fair goers to use when they visit Arts Fair food vendors, which reduces single-use plastic waste generated by the event. It’s a small step, but an important one. And many small steps together can drive real change. See you this weekend at the Fair in East Lynn Park, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-5. It is now time to introduce you all to our emerging artists this year! These artists give us a little bit of everything! With paper art, oil paintings, embroidery, ceramics, illustrations, watercolour paintings, and up-cycling, there is something for everyone! Visit Rabeekah, Reissa, Fathima Safna, Francesca, James, Raspberry, and Leighton for some amazing student made artwork. #FindLexToday at East Lynn Park Farmers’ Market LAST EAST LYNN MARKET FOR US THIS SEASON! 🌶️ Today we’re back at East Lynn Park Farmers’ Market from 3–7pm... and this is your last chance to stock up with us here this year. Our next East Lynn market is in 2027. 2027! That sounds completely ridiculous, but here we are. So come get your spices! Lex & Gerry will be there sampling, sharing and helping you figure out what flavours belong in your kitchen. And we’ll be doing some shopping of our own. I’m already looking forward to my @decreto_cafe Iced Arequipe Latte. I always get 2... one to keep me going at the market and one for tomorrow morning’s office coffee. Gerry usually stocks up on @mybrewingco for those summer nights when we aren’t working. And then there are the farmers. I’m usually chomping on a carrot or sneaking a raspberry or two behind the booth at East Lynn. Last month Gerry bought me 2 containers of raspberries and they were so so good! We tend to leave this market with armloads of fresh vegetables. There’s lots happening at East Lynn today too... live music from @ChrisScian, @LaneSchoolofMusic with their instrument petting zoo in the Kids Zone, plus community organizations @KennedyHouse1971 and @TorontoMasterGardeners. After yesterday’s HUGE storm, today is looking lovely. Take a break from cleanup, back-to-school and all the other adulting stuff and come spend some time at the market. Did you know East Lynn Park Farmers’ Market is a joint venture between @farmers_markets_ont and volunteers from the @Danforth.East.Community Association? It takes a lot of people to make a community market happen, so come enjoy what they’ve built. One important Thursday note: because we’re at East Lynn today, we will NOT be at Underpass Farmers’ Market. Underpass is still happening from 4–7:30pm, and we’ll be back there next Thursday. East Lynn... we won’t see you here again until 2027. Come say hi, eat something good, stock your kitchen and GET YOUR SPICES!
