“Aling pag-ibig pa ang hihigit kaya sa pagkadalisay at pagkadakila gaya ng pag-ibig sa tinubuang lupa? Alin pag-ibig pa? Wala na nga, wala.” by @dangodoy

i wish i lived in san francisco by @dangodoy
i sat at a beach talking to a woman about this and that for what seemed like hours and hours. the seagulls stayed at a safe distance and the waves were close enough to hear us speak. the sand was so warm, maybe even hot if i took my socks off. when the topic of my favorite movie came about, she started to cry. i told her of a pair of people who met at a bar and chatted until they were kicked out. they headed to a hotel where the girl immediately passed out. the guy sat on the floor, watched tv, and ate a sandwich while she slept. as soon as he felt that she was comfortable and safe, he took her shoes off so her feet wouldn’t swell. he left the room never to see her again. “sometimes this is just this but you have to appreciate the moment it happened” she asked me if i was terrified that the reasons for loving something can be so real but only ever temporary. i said, “if loving cannot be terrifying then it cannot be real.” we were only at the beach for an hour and a half. we took a walk through the city. sand now filled my boots. with the ocean breeze to our backs she asked me again, “do you ever laugh or are you just serious all the time?” “i havent had much opportunity to laugh recently it seems.” sometimes you meet someone not knowing you will ever see them again. but if there is meant to be a connection, you just do your part and they will do theirs. we stopped at a restaurant because a friend of mine worked there. i ordered a burger for her and nothing for myself. as she was eating, my friend came by the table and said he found an extra hotdog laying around so he gave it to me. she was already halfway through her burger. sometimes you meet someone at a time in your life that doesn’t allow for anyone to be there too. when we left, she asked me one last time, “will this be just this or can this be something more?” “this is just this. it is not fair for me to have anything more. i’m only in this city for work and my work is taking me out of here soon. i can’t find room to carry anything more. anything more will only be left behind.” as i remember this moment, there is still warm sand in my boots that i refuse to shake out else my feet feel cold. by @dangodoy
