A.M. PINOCCHIO

A few choruses on Pinocchio to start the week. Last night we opened up our set with the @blaaseensemblet with a nod to Miles and his groups with Wayne Shorter. Thanks @agil for capturing this moment.
Looking forward to tonight in Berlin!!

A BEAUTIFUL DAY OFF IN OSLO 🇳🇴

Spent some time at the National Museum with @francesco_chi_nee_yo, @angillis, and @ste_rib, taking in works by Munch, Asta Nørregaard, and other Norwegian artists, along with a great collection of international artists including Picasso, Gauguin, and others.

Then over to the Oslo Opera House, where we made our way to the top and took in some beautiful views of the city. Later, we were joined by @theocroker and @josh_ginsburg for burgers, completing our traveling party on this tour with the @blaaseensemblet, celebrating 100 years of Miles Davis.

Art, architecture, and a little time to wander. It was a nice way to spend the day off with bandmates and new friends. 🇳🇴

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Norway and head to play the @berlinerphilharmonie. taken in Oslo, Norway by @dangriskeys

SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS

Hey y’all. Here’s what I’m up to for the rest of September. Some exciting things!

First, I’m linking up with my longtime friend @nielsvincentz for a quartet date in Denmark. Then I’ll join @theocroker and the @blaaseensemblet to play music from Miles Davis’ collaborations with Gil Evans. We played this program a few years ago, and it was amazing.

Our final show will be at the historic Berliner Philharmonie. I can’t wait to be back there!! by @dangriskeys

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaching at the GRA i TY Jazz Masterclasses in Toruń, Poland, this August.

It’ll be a fantastic week of lessons, workshops, concerts, and making music together alongside an outstanding international faculty.

If you’re ready to deepen your musicianship, strengthen your improvisation, and immerse yourself in jazz for a week, I’d love to see you there.

Looking forward to seeing you in Poland! by @dangriskeys

A few choruses on Dizzy’s “Con Alma” from the last concert. I played on this latest run with Peter Bernstein Quartet. It was so much fun to play with @peterbernsteinguitar and @dougweiss_bass again. And it was super special to reconnect with @billy.drummond after some years. Thanks to everyone who came out to hear us.

I honestly thought I’d get a handful of responses…

Instead, y’all completely ran with it.

To date, there have been over 130 unique responses across Facebook and Instagram.

I never imagined there would be this many clever answers—or this sheer amount of creativity.

(See what I did there? 😏)

Thank y’all for playing. This turned into one of the most unexpectedly fun things I’ve ever posted.

I’m terrible at these, but
@roberthurstbass inspires me to try anyway. So l’ll ask? Who’s is that piano? l’ll go first. Bush Powell? Herbie Hedgecock? Your turn. Leave it in the comments. by @dangriskeys
