This past winter, @chris_simonini_music, @adamshumski and I recorded a live session at @morningstarstudios! We picked some familiar tunes and a few less familiar ones, but mainly wanted it to be about going in to play and capture the sound of the live trio. It’s a lot of fun to play with these guys! Thanks to Dave Schonauer at Morningstar for recording, mixing and setting up the video for this session. I’ll have some full length videos up in my YouTube channel soon enough, but in the meantime here’s a clip of us trading over Charlie Parker’s “Dexterity”. by @danhanrahanguitar

I heard the great Jim Hall mention this Charlie Christian solo as one that he learned off a record which really stuck with him. That sent me on a bit of a dive recently into listening to some of the great players of this era: Charlie Christian, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins. This was totally mind blowing guitar playing and improvising in 1939 and it definitely holds up today! 12 bar blues in F - Each chorus is 3 clear, beautiful phrases! #jazzguitar by @danhanrahanguitar
