A history lesson... there was a period in my country where bandits roamed the provinces and pillaged everything in their way - The Kardzhaliy movement was part of the feudal unrest in the Ottoman Empire in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which is why the period is called the "Kardzhaliy period." The term should not be confused with the name of the city of Kardzhali, which was a small settlement at that time. The Kardzhaliy were bandits operating as armed groups on the Balkan Peninsula during this period. Remembered in oral traditions as a terrible scourge on the civilian population, the Kardzhaliy detachments were organized under the command of the most experienced military experts in their ranks. These marauding bands included people of different ethnicities, nationalities and religions, united only by their military occupation. They attacked, plundered and burned towns and villages, and took the plundered wealth and loot to secret lairs in the foothills of the Eastern Balkan Mountains and the Rhodope Mountains. by @dani.sav_
