POSTS STORIES REELS

Last weekend my classmates celebrated our 20 year reunion back in Germany.
I obviously didn’t make it, but it made me reflect on how much life has changed since finishing school 20 years ago.
From being a girl completely unsure of herself and what she was supposed to do with her life, to living in different countries, getting into different careers and building a life beyond her wildest dreams.

One small brave decision at a time 🌏❤️‍🔥

Two years ago we bought a 70s house with good bones, vintage vibes, questionable wallpaper and tiny rooms. I fell in love with the potential and immediately had a vision to make this our home 🥰

Over the past couple of years we renovated as much as possible ourselves, lost count of the amount of YouTube tutorials we watched and frequently keep asking ourselves „What have we done?”.
But looking back at the before photos makes me realise how far we’ve come. There’s a story (OUR story) to each room: walls got knocked down, layout changes (over and over again), double-glazed windows and proper insulation, we were told a walk-in-wardrobe AND and ensuite won’t fit..
And yet we made it work. Now, the renovated part of the house really feels like us 💕

Oh, never mind the laundry though. The only room we touched that actually looks worse than before. Trust the process, we’re working on it 🤞🏼

Let’s walk down memory lane together. What’s your favourite transformation? by @dani.wanderworld

Tiki tour into an overthinker’s brain, anyone? 🎪

Thought I was just going to chat about my upcoming Whanganui River trip while packing, but ended up yapping, second guessing and sharing the few things I know about this little adventure.

Sounds familiar?

Packing for a 3-day paddle adventure, but make it a scavenger hunt 🙃

Anyone else struggling to pack light, while also trying to be prepared for every possible scenario? I just really don’t want to be cold..

If you’ve done the Whanganui River Journey, what’s one thing you absolutely recommend packing? Or 10 😜

Seven years ago, I signed up for the Auckland half marathon series. Although it’s been purely a bucketlist item for me, I thought I might as well improve my running style.

Another reason for me to do the five halfs across Auckland: five medals which were supposed to fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. I mean, how fun!
Except the year I did it, they changed the design. No more jigsaw 🥲

The locations were epic, but running the series didn’t exactly reignite my love for running and when friends told me about Parkrun I just added it to the “one day” pile.

Six months ago a new Parkrun location started just 10 walk from home and this week, I finally took the plunge and signed up.
And I still got it: 5 km in 28:16 min 🔥

Note to self: stop putting things off and finally give them a go.
What’s something you’ve been wanting to do forever?

What you see? A glimpse behind the scenes of our photoshoot with lovely @caitlincapturess 🩷

What you don’t see? The hectic morning is was for us to drive to the photoshoot, the poor night’s sleep I had, the friendly note from a police officer and just the usual pinch of team chaos we are ✌🏼

A special occasion called LIFE 🤎🔥

Our last photoshoot was over five years ago and I love having professional photos of us at different stages of our journey together, rather than just the big milestones.

We had such a lovely time with @caitlincapturess at Muriwai Beach and I love love LOVE how the photos turned out.

If you’re looking for a photographer for couples, weddings, maternity, families and more, I cannot recommend Caitlin highly enough.

Two years of chaos and things are starting to find their place.

Cannot say no one warned us about renovations taking longer than you think 🌪️🙃

Being so far from family often means missing moments you most wish you could be there for. Yesterday was one of those.

So I made my own little ceremony to remember and celebrate my grandpa. He loved his garden and I’m sure he’d love ours just as much.
I picked flowers, dressed up, laughed and cried.

Yes, it was hard. But it also meant I could say goodbye in my own way.

Rest easy, Opi 🕊️❤️

Piece by piece our home is becoming a collection of stories turning into memories turning into art 🩷

I never really look for art. But somehow it just seems to find me.

What’s the story behind things in YOUR wall? by @dani.wanderworld

Struggling to switch off at night?

Your evening routine matters more than you think.

Dim the lights. Put your phone away. Take a warm shower. Make a cup of tea. And for me, this is when I reach for my Ashwagandha.

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic adaptogen traditionally used to help the body adapt to stress and support a calm, balanced state.

Because better sleep starts before your head hits the pillow.

Create your ritual. Slow down. Let your body know it’s time to rest.

Three years ago, we came home from a trip of a lifetime in Papua New Guinea.
For our friends’ tribal wedding in the middle of the jungle we were gifted our own traditional bilas: tapa cloths, grass skirt, leaves, shells, feathers, face and body paintings made from natural colours.

Precious memories that somehow feel a lifetime ago, yet are still so vivid and will absolutely live rent free in our hearts forever and ever.

Forever grateful for this and even managed to bring the tapa cloths back into the country (biosecurity…say no more).
At the time, we were still housesitting, without a place to put them up.
Then moved into our own house, or rather jumped straight into renovations.

Three years on, a whole lot of dust and plenty of changes around the house later, we finally have the perfect spot for them.

So worth the wait 🩷❤️🧡💛
