Walking on sacred Country. The “Glass House” mountains are the hardened hearts of ancient volcanoes. The odd shapes you see in the photos and video were formed when molten lava cooled more than 25 million years ago. I loved learning that to the Jinibara and Kabi Kabi Peoples, the owners of the land, they are not just peaks on a horizon but living ancestors, teachers and keepers of story and ceremony. Traditionally known as Daki Comon (meaning Stone Standing Up) they were later renamed the “Glass House” Mountains by a passing settler who thought their shapes looked like glass furnaces. This stands as a reminder of how casually sacred places get renamed without regard for their true meaning.

As a visitor walking on unceded land I feel so very grateful for the chance to witness their beauty and humbled by the knowledge that this Country has always been cared for by Elders whose stories endure. taken in Glass House Mountains by @daniahawat

A sweet highlight from my trip to Lebanon was seeing how safe our street cats felt. They were everywhere, in building entrances, on the streets, in cafés.. curling up next to strangers or jumping up beside me for a pat or sometimes a sneaky snack.

While these people have been taking the streets continuously for 13 weeks to END A GENOCIDE, some still refuse to see the horrid reality and the contribution of their silence to it.

Call your politicians. Advocate for the truth. Tell your friends. ✊🏼
