✨How I Use My Hobonichi Weeks

Planner season is nearly upon us, so I thought I’d share how I’m using my @hobonichi1101 @hobonichi_global Weeks–just in case you’re looking for ideas. I know some of these spreads look outdated; I took most of these photos back in May and they’ve been sitting in my drafts since. 😅 But now seems like the opportune moment to share it. I’m a diehard Hobonichi girl and I will always have one of their items in my journal line-up. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year.

For a full walkthrough, check my substack.

✨2026 Reading Journal Flip through

My very simple reading journal inspired by art nouveau gardens.

I mentioned a while back that most of my reading related challenges and my yearly bookshelves from here on out shall be in my other journal, which I will also make a flip through of. I have very specific preferences for my reading journal though. You may have caught on by now that I hate using the 5 star rating system (or really any grade point system) when reviewing books. There are a lot of things about those systems that my brain simply can’t reconcile that it ends up being so arbitrary. So until I find a system that works for me, there will be no system. 😂 BUT if you asked, I can you a detailed list of what worked and what didn’t, what I loved and what I hated about each piece that I read. That’s one of the reasons why I love making my own reading journal–I can customize it to my exact preferences.

What are your must haves and essentials for yours?

✨2026 (Potential) Line-Up

It’s that time of year when I share the following year’s journal and planner line-up. I’m a little late per my own schedule, but indecisiveness struck once I again. I couldn’t decide on whether I should switch to a larger daily journal. As much as I do love the portability of an A6, I constantly found myself craving more space — the thoughts, they yearn to be set on paper. 😂 It’s one of the reasons why I keep my dailies completely undecorated, I need the space for actual writing. I don’t know if I’ll regret lugging around a full A5 inside my usually near-overflowing purse (my poor back 😅), but we shall see. And honestly, I still have about 2 months to change my mind. 🤷‍♀️

For now, the ecosystem:
Reading Journal: B5 Coiled Key from @archerandolive (affiliate code: danicainpages)
Bullet Journal: A5 Oath Breaker @thequirkcupcollective (ambassador code: danica10)
Morning pages: A5 notebook from @aboutblanks
Weekly highlights/junk journal: @hobonichi1101 weeks
Daily Journal: A5 Yoseka Green @stalogy_official
Misc: (I’ll break down all my inserts later) @travelers_company

I know this seems a lot, but let’s just say I live better when I compartmentalize. It’s a system that works for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️ by @danicainpages

🖋️Currently Inked: October

This month’s palette in my new #commonplace journal. (I filled up the last one.)

I’m realized I don’t have as near enough “Witchy” ink as I would like, but give me a good Violet, Green, and Red combo and I’ll be happy.

This month’s ink:
@diamineink.turkiye: Writer’s Blood, Earl Grey, Chaos
@robertostersignature: Sepia Nights
@noodlersink: Red-Black
Rohrer and Klinger: Alt Bordeaux
@pilotpenusa Iroshizuku: Shin-Ryoku by @danicainpages

✨Adding Ribbon Charms

Currently obsessed with adding stars to everything I own. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I wanted to protect the edges of my ribbons from fraying but the falling stars effect added to the look of my Tanaka Daisuke Weeks.

To answer the potential questions (because I’m horrible at replying to comments at a timely manner 😅):

🌙 Tarot! Renaissance Symbols, Modern Visions

I’m so glad I got to see this exhibition at the Morgan Library and Museum a few weeks ago. I learned a lot about the history of tarot—from its conception as a trick-taking game during the Italian Renaissance to its eventual role in divination centuries later—and how it has served as a rich source of inspiration for artists across time. by @danicainpages

📚Currently reading: Knight and the Moth

I’m delighted I’m finally reading this book. I’m only about 100 pages in. I’m intrigued and enthralled. This is my first book from Gillig (she’s been on my TBR for forever) and I’m happy to finally delve into her work.

✨Autumn Hopefuls

Since finishing the beast that is The Realm of the Elderlings, I feel like I can finally take on some of the books and series I’ve been putting off for a long while. I often save books I have a hunch (or at least, I hope) will be a favorite. But now I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. 😂 Here are some of the picks for this season. Maybe it’ll change, maybe it won’t. 🤷🏽‍♀️

What are you looking forward to reading this Fall?

What I’ve read, what I’m loving, and what I’ve seen: Oct 1st to 9th

My first attempt at hand-stitching a journal cover. I’ve made covers before (the one on the left was also made by yours truly) but they were relatively easy and straightforward. Two things I’ve learned from this endeavor: 1. I should have cut my nails. 😂 Stiletto-like nails are not ideal for this craft, it seems. 2. I currently do not have the upper body strength for this.🤣I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve accidentally hit myself with a mallet or stabbed my fingers with the needle (hand-eye coordination might also need work.) 3. I need better tools and a better workspace. But I had fun and I’m proud of what I’ve made. I’m still waiting on a few customization stuff in the mail, but will update once it’s ready for a full setup flip through.

“For to wish to forget how much you loved someone—and then, to actually forget—can feel, at times, like the slaughter of a beautiful bird who chose, by nothing short of grace, to make a habitat of your heart.” Maggie Nelson

One of the short books I borrowed from the library. Bluets is a lyrical celebration of the color blue exploring themes of personal suffering, love, grief, and desire. I’ve seen so many people adore this book and I understand why. Nelson’s writing is so personal, honest, and raw. I’ve written down quite a few quotes from this in my journal.

Blue Monochrome by Yves Klein, 1961

I visited two museums this past weekend. October is quite a full month for me. I have lots of family and friends visiting so I’m trying to steal as much artist dates as I can.

One of the reasons why I love New York so much is the high likelihood of me finding a piece of art I was just reading about in one of the museums in the vicinity. This happened with Blue Monochrome. It was referenced in a book I recently read (see previous slide) and I came across it during my visit to Moma. It was an unplanned, serendipitous moment. I love live’s synchronicities a whole lot.

🌙 Weeks Setup: Adding Tabs

I’m having a ton of fun working on next year’s journals and a multitude of projects behind the scenes, some of which I’m excited to share on here. But the holiday season has sort of started for me and life is getting full-er, so my attendance on socials might dwindle a bit more in the coming weeks. (Friendly reminder: I am notoriously slow at replying to messages and comments—don’t take it personally. Many of my hobbies and interests require a lot of time offline. 🤷🏽‍♀️)

And I already know I’m going to get questions about it 😂, tabs are available on my etsy shop. Link is in bio. by @danicainpages
