Two juvenile White-tailed Eagles testing their strength in the wild landscapes of Hortobágy, Hungary, back in January.

I'm currently diving back into my photo archives, editing more images from this year's wildlife adventures.

A Common Crane (Grus grus) flying straight towards the camera in Hortobágy National Park, Hungary. Every autumn, thousands of cranes gather in the region during their migration, making Hortobágy a great place in Europe to photograph these impressive birds.

A young white-tailed eagle photographed in Hortobágy, Hungary. In color, the warm brown tones of the plumage stand out. In black and white, the eagle’s gaze feels even more intense I guess. Which version do you prefer?

A few impressions from the fields near my home over the last two weeks when I took my dog for walks. There have been plenty of Meadow Pipits (Wiesenpieper), Reed Buntings (Rohrammer), and European Goldfinches (Stieglitz) around lately. But autumn also brings some interesting visitors, especially birds of prey passing through I guess. Northern Harriers (Kornweihen) have been showing up, along with Red Kites (Rotmilane). On one occasion, I counted six Red Kites at the same time yesterday afternoon!

The Bearded Reedlings are back in the spotlight! In the Seewinkel region, these beautiful little birds are now much easier to spot. Moving in groups of several individuals, they skillfully climb up the reed stems. #beardedreedling #seewinkel #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #nikonz8 #nikonwildlife by @daniel.magpie

Autumn in Hortobágy, Hungary is special. Cranes gathering at their night roost, silhouetted against the beautiful colors of the evening sky. The magic continues at dawn, as the cranes leave their roost and head out into the plains. Along the way, a Cattle Egret in the soft morning light, a Reed Bunting, and the majestic White-tailed Eagle.
