POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi, I’m Daniel Uglunts, and this is why I sing!

When I first started taking voice lessons, I assumed singing was the bulk of what I’d be doing in my career – training, auditioning, performing. And though that’s part of it, being a singer to me means doing a whole lot more.

Studying voice has pulled me into places I never expected, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the ways I can incorporate music into my life. I grew up in a musical family and always knew it would be important to me, but I never expected singing would reach into so many other disciplines.

Competing in Schmidt Vocal Competitions in high school helped me better hone the many things involved in singing, and the @schmidtvocal Scholarship has made it possible for me to pursue my singing at Northwestern.

Being a singer means being a performer, a friend, an academic, a creative voice, and most of all – a hard worker. I sing because this career involves so much more than just being a singer, and it’s honestly the part I love most about it. by @daniel_uglunts

Excited to share some of my recent and upcoming engagements this year!

Closing out my time as an undergraduate at Northwestern, I had the pleasure of performing Dancaïro and Major Domo with @nuoperatheatre before heading straight to @seaglefestival for a whirlwind summer filled with some amazing role debuts as Owen Hart and Captain Corcoran, as well as revisiting Guglielmo. Closing out this year, I’ll be performing Clay in @matthew_recio_composer’s The Puppy Episode with @nuoperatheatre (now as an MM!) and returning to @chambermusicfw in December. by @daniel_uglunts

senior year!

(aka: a love letter to @xfactorsnu) by @daniel_uglunts

I’m thrilled to be presenting Songs and Dances of Death, my Senior Honors Recital, on Monday, May 4th at 6pm in Galvin Recital Hall!

This program explores death in all its forms and includes Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death, Korngold’s Unvergänglichkeit, as well as songs by Dvořák, Rachmaninoff, and Duparc. I’ll be performing alongside the incredible Jason Carlson, and I hope you all can join in person or tune in online.

It’s time!!

I’m thrilled to invite you to Songs of Youth, my Junior Honors Recital, featuring pianist Jason Carlson! Centered on themes of childhood and youth, this recital journeys through scenes of folk life in Mussorgsky’s Nursery Song Cycle, conjures fairytale creatures like the Fire-Rider and Pied Piper in selections by Hugo Wolf, and explores lullabies by De Falla, Britten, and Poldowski.

I’m beyond lucky to close with a dreamlike performance of Barber’s Dover Beach, featuring some amazing Bienen musicians!

Join in-person or via livestream on May 4th at 8:30pm — the link is in my bio :) by @daniel_uglunts

El Gato Con Botas / Le Docteur Miracle @opusnu

What an incredible experience it’s been to direct this opera! From first picking the score off a bookshelf last summer to presenting it at @bienenschoolnu with full orchestra, conductor, and dancers just a few weeks ago — thank you to all who made this work come to life.

As a bonus, scroll to the end to see pics of my second ever portrayal of a French father with OPUS <3

The Very Model of a Modern Major-General!

Performing in and production managing Pirates of Penzance with @opusnu has been such an amazing experience. Getting to have fun on stage while learning so much vocally has been a blessing 🫶
