The cats out of the bag! 🐆

After many attempts and even missing one in the first week of putting the cam trap out!

I’ve finally got the crown jewel in the Jaguar!

All those mosquito bites, missed opportunities and countless battles with the weather!

It’s finally paid off!

I literally ran around the office when my friend @encountersinnature let me know i got it, after kindly retrieving the camera from the field whilst on my holidays!

Great news and result for a regenerating rainforest site with @crees.manu & @crees.foundation

As always thank you for the opportunities and support!

Many more to come 😂

Thanks to @seb_dunkley for assistance with setting up (check his photos!)

Made possible by the Pir motion sensor v3 by @camtraptions

Can’t wait to put it back out there!

The crown jewel of the Amazon! Extremely grateful to have been able to observe a harpy eagle (harpia harpyja) nest for a morning and afternoon!

It was literally like living a dream after waiting for so long! A big thank you to @crees.manu for making this happen!

I’ll be dropping more images and facts throughout the week so stay tuned 🦅

📷 Our first community contribution comes from wildlife photographer @danielashphoto, who has spent several years working in Manu Biosphere Reserve.

Captured along the banks of the Manu River, this Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus) was one of many basking in the sun. During the dry season, when sandy river beaches are exposed, caimans are a common sight as they leave the water to thermoregulate.

Thank you to @danielashphoto for sharing this photo of such an impressive reptile species.

Turtles and butterflies what a combination! (Swipe for close up)

One of my favourites from the past Peruvian Amazon sessions within the Manu national park! Felt it all aligned here!

Blue crowned trogon male (Trogon curucui) one of my favourite birds to see because of their striking colours!

Was fortunate enough to observe this individual and it’s partner feeding on a termite nest for a few hours!

Got so much cool footage and photos I still need to sort through 😅

Ameerega macero or the Manu poison dart frog, a welcome and colourful sight!

Poison dart frogs get their name from the toxic substance they secrete through their permeable skin, which also makes them a great bioindicator species!

Due to the nature of their skin it means they are very sensitive to their environment as they breathe through gaseous exchange

Therefore we monitor the quantity of species and individuals in the amphibian family with great care, as a drop in the numbers can signify a negative change in the environment such as pollutants!

Finally got the chance to capture this amazing bird the Golden headed quetzal (Pharomachrus auriceps) in the cloud forest, I called it out and we stopped 2 vans for everyone to see it 😂

This is the female, characterised by the shorter tail feathers and slightly duller head. Still a stunning individual!

Spectacled caiman portrait (Caiman crocodilus) in the Manu National Park 🏞️

Little closer than my other shot and due to them being relatively placid I was able to get this nice portrait, showing the details of this prehistoric creature!

Green anole (Anolis punctatus) engaging in a territorial/sexual display. A large dewlap (yellow skin flap on the throat) like this individuals tells us that they’re a male!

The colour change is really strange but well documented in anoles, this is the first instance I had seen it and had to capture it!
