this quote is beautiful to me because it shows how two opposites- good and evil- coexist for the benefit of one another. in the journey of trying to become your best self- become the best person you could possibly be- you must accept the evil within you. only then will the good matter. mankind- throughout history- has basked in its evil ways. humankind has committed cruel acts against themselves, the earth, other living creatures. humans have forever been known to be born with sin, nobody teaches it to us. even the most innocent of us all, (children) will lie, cheat, hit, bully, even if it was not taught to them. this is because humans are sinners. does this make us inherently evil? that is ones choice. I don’t see being a sinner as being evil, I see it as being human. we must understand that each of us, as humans, have this potential to be just as evil as any of our human ancestors. we are all connected. we are all each other. think of how you would act if you had the power of a king, someone people referred to as divine? how would you act if you had evil cravings and nobody was watching- there was no consequence. meditate over these feelings. imagine the possibility of inflicting pain and evil onto others- and enjoying doing so. with that understanding, with the acknowledgement of that potential within us all, we can embody the greatest good. the greatest good comes from a true acknowledgement of evil- and the conscious choice to not do so. goodness is not and never will be the ignorance of evil. that is simply ignorance. only with your roots in hell, can you reach heaven. by @danielasverses
