Some impressions of Tender Riot at DDD Festival 2026

Tender Riot takes place before anything happens — a preparation for revolt, a campsite of exhausted dreamers. The stage becomes a landfill, a concert, a shame ritual, a performance gone wrong where everybody is in action. We wear every hat, play every role, build and dismantle our own authority, swaddling and manipulating one another — until softness becomes defiance. Somewhere between a puppet show, a protest, and a burnout support group, Tender Riot unfolds as a dream of a riot that never arrives.

This weekend 11/12.04 we present TENDER RIOT at @festivalddd

Tender Riot takes place before anything happens — a preparation for revolt, a campsite of exhausted dreamers. The stage becomes a landfill, a concert, a shame ritual, a performance gone wrong where everybody is in action. We wear every hat, play every role, build and dismantle our own authority, swaddling and manipulating one another — until softness becomes defiance. Somewhere between a puppet show, a protest, and a burnout support group, Tender Riot unfolds as a dream of a riot that never arrives.

Quando tudo dá errado, preparamo-nos para a revolta, construímos barricadas e damos abrigo temporário para quem precisa no #DDD2026. ✊

Em 𝒯ender Riot, Ana Rita Xavier, Daniel Conant, Madison Pomarico, Andy Pomarico, Jonas Friedlich, Maurícia Barreira Neves e Belisa Branças convocam-nos para um concerto, um ritual de humilhação, um espetáculo em movimento que se desdobra como o sonho de uma rebelião que nunca chega ao Rivoli (@teatromunicipaldoporto). 🫧

Abril de 2026 está quase aí, mas enquanto não celebramos os 10 anos do DDD, podemos sempre revisitar a última edição através dos balanços publicados, nos últimos dias, pelo @jornalexpresso e o @publico.pt/@ipsilon_publico. 👀

E é lá que encontramos quatro peças que nos fizeram dançar no #DDD2025: “Magic Maids”, de Eisa Jocson & Venuri Perera, “violetas”, de Vânia Doutel Vaz, “C.C. (Crematística e Contraforça)”, de Vera Mantero & Cúmplices, e “BEAUTIFUL”, de Ana Rita Xavier & Daniel Conant. 🫶

Ein internationales Team entwickelt in einer Recherche-Residenz in der Tanztendenz das neue Stück „Tender Riot“ – eine Performance, in der Licht, Klang, Kostüm und Raum zu gleichberechtigten Akteur*innen werden und die Grenzen zwischen Kreation und Ergebnis, Protest und Fürsorge verschwimmen.

An international team is developing the new piece "Tender Riot" during a research residency at Tanztendenz — a performance in which light, sound, costume, and space become equal actors, and the boundaries between creation and outcome, protest and care begin to blur.

Na ausência de autoridade, Ana Rita Xavier & Daniel Conant encaram o palco como um subterfúgio para a rebelião. ✊ Em “BEAUTIFUL”, o ato performativo é uma arma, numa peça em colaboração com Jonas Friedlich, Madison Pomarico, Coletivo Febre, Mariana Leite Soares e Ana Paula Ferreira.

Este sábado e domingo, no âmbito da 9.ª edição do @festivalddd, a Sala-Estúdio do #TeatroCampoAlegre é um campo aberto para o absurdo, ocupado pelo vazio e pela inquietação. 🎠

Pode o ato performativo ser encarado como uma arma? 🎠 Claro que sim, e Ana Rita Xavier & Daniel Conant mostram-nos com 𝘉𝘌𝘈𝘜𝘛𝘐𝘍𝘜𝘓 no Teatro Campo Alegre.

Can the performative act be seen as a weapon? 🎠 Of course, and Ana Rita Xavier & Daniel Conant show us with 𝘉𝘌𝘈𝘜𝘛𝘐𝘍𝘜𝘓 at Teatro Campo Alegre.

In the absence of authority, the stage itself becomes a subterfuge for rebellion, a battlefield for the absurd. A place once inhabited by figures of power is now occupied by emptiness and restlessness, in a work in collaboration with Jonas Friedlich, Madison Pomarico, Coletivo Febre, Mariana Leite Soares, Pedro Azevedo and Ana Paula Ferreira. 🌡️
