On Saturday, my grandmother died from a very accidental cause in a normal routine procedure. She was extremely healthy. Thankfully Taya (our baby sister) called me and my brother to come in town to join her and our brother Devin just in time and we both took the final flights of the night and made it to the hospital just in time to be with her. She died from an error that was as rare and true as she was. I don’t share my deep emotions often but I can and I want to. Her energy has shaped every part of my life. I’m kind and friendly to everyone because of her. I chose to not learn to cook (because I’m a lazy diva) but because of her. My ability to connect with every human and creature has always been because of her. My randomness and high expectations will always be from my dear grandmother. I will never be okay no matter the well wishes yall share or the “I’m fines” that I share. I am truly heart broken for her and my family. I will miss our laughs, our high expectations and bringing joy to everyone in the future. Maw Maw, I love you so much for all that you have done to shape my mom, Taya, DJ, Devin and myself into the sweet human beings we will always be.
