One warm spring day and suddenly I’m getting my life together…

Nothing dramatic 😋 just moving more, making better choices and adding things that actually fit into my day.

Somewhere between building the career and raising two boys, the equation changed.

Now I find myself wanting things I didn’t think much about before.

An afternoon that isn’t rushed.
Being able to collect my kids without watching the clock.
Enough energy left at the end of the day to actually enjoy the life I’m working so hard for.

And for a while, wanting those things made me wonder whether I was becoming less ambitious.

I don’t think I am.

And I’m proud of the career I’ve built. I’m a Tax Director (I recently became aware that not a lot of people know this about me 🤭), I genuinely like what I do, and I still want to grow.

And maybe that’s one of the stranger parts of this season of working motherhood: still wanting more, but getting far more specific about what “more” actually means.

Petition to make Friday afternoon catch-ups a weekly requirement. 🍷

You can be proud of the life you built and still want to build it differently.

I don’t think I want a smaller life.
I think I want a life with more room in it.

Room for meaningful work, financial independence, being present with my kids, things I’m curious about, and time that doesn’t need to be productive.

And I have a feeling there are a lot of professional working moms in this strange middle too; proud of what we’ve built, still ambitious, but starting to question whether the version of success we chased in our 20s still fits.

I want to talk more about that here.

Not me scheduling my entire shower around hair wash day 🤭

Because when I’m taking the time to do the full routine, we’re doing it properly.

Winter doesn’t ask permission. It just shows up.

Yesterday we did wine in the Winelands. The boys did juice pairings and sweet treats and thought they were very fancy.

No agenda. No rush. Just us.

That’s the thing about Mother’s Day. It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to feel like yours. A moment where nobody needs anything. Where you get to just… be.

I think as moms, we forget what shopping in peace even feels like sometimes 🤍

I recently discovered that Deluxe Laser & Aesthetics has rebranded into ONLYDELUXE Aesthetics, and I didn’t realise they now offer so much more than just treatments. From lifestyle and gifting pieces to homeware, jewellery and beautiful everyday finds, it’s such a thoughtfully curated space.
