@rootspicnic 2026 is a wrap! I missed a few acts due to timing overlaps, and didn’t connect with as many as I had planned to, but I appreciated just sharing the space with so many Spartans

Day One Recap
•Bilal is a class act and a generational talent. Give. Him. His. Flowers.
•50 Years of Go-Go went HAM. The DMV outnumbered Philly by a long shot.
•Brandy EXCEEDED my expectations first time seeing her live. The Custom Cross Colors jumpsuit. The YoYo popout and Bronica reunion. The little girl in me is healing. And her mic was on … (Prince Blink)
•Jay-Z, I was spiritually invigorated by your set. Your bar always goes higher. And I loved your aesthetic nod to Ab-Soul (@souloho3). IYKYK. I hope he knows it too. Escobar will always be my Hip Hop Holy Grail. But you reminded me and the estimated 80K in attendance that you are one of them ones.
•Totally missed @ambre messing with lines smh
•Missed JD and Friends to prioritize Brandy
•Casually walked past @_cuban_link and I was stunned because she’s even more gorgeous in person.
•Camera died right at Brandy and I got nothing for Jay.

Day 2 Recap
•Body Pain led to a late arrival
•Missed Wale 😢
•Got my life during the Adam Blackstoke set. India Shawn + Melanie Fiona had already sang down, but I caught Ledisi, Andra Day, Tamar Braxton, Chante Moore and Yolanda Adams. This set got to me and I broke down crying.
•TI burned the house DOWN. The King never left and he has a bag of hits for DAYS. Had Philly in they southern bag lol
•I love that Erykah Badu was the festival closer because the serendipity of having a FULL Orange Moon illuminating her set was divine timing. Badu hypnotized me, she’s so magnetic, she refuses to lose your gaze taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @daniellecoley

My Mother’s Day gift came in early when my son pulled up last night. Isaiah wrapped up Sophomore Year, and Solo drove all the way from VA-GA again, and I am so proud of you.
