💚 Danielle J Connects is going from strength to strength! 💚

I just wanted to take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported my little business so far, whether that’s booking me, recommending me to others, sharing my posts or simply spreading the word!

I’m so grateful for all the lovely clients I’ve had the pleasure of helping, and I’m really proud of how Danielle J Connects is growing!

I’ve also started receiving enquiries from assisted living and residential settings about going in to offer digital support to their residents, which is something I’m really excited about!

Of course, I’m still offering my 1-to-1 home visits, helping with all things technology, including:

📱 SUNDAY TOP TECH TIP!

Has your phone ever felt like it’s been taken over?! 😳

You download a FREE phone cleaner app, thinking it’ll speed up your phone, free up storage or make it run better…

But suddenly your phone looks completely different, adverts start popping up, or apps appear that you don’t remember downloading!

Sound familiar?

⚠️ Be careful with ‘free’ phone cleaning apps!

Some of these apps can actually cause more problems than they solve. They may:

❌ Change the appearance or layout of your phone

❌ Bombard you with adverts and notifications

❌ Encourage you to download even more unnecessary apps

❌ Request permissions they don’t really need

The good news? You probably don’t need one!

Most modern smartphones already have tools built in to help manage storage and keep things running smoothly.

✅ Android: Check your Settings for options such as Device Care, Device Maintenance or Storage. The name varies depending on your phone.

✅ iPhone: Head to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see what’s taking up space.

My advice? Before downloading an app that promises to ‘clean’, ‘boost’ or ‘speed up’ your phone, check what your phone can already do for itself!

Friday is here, and I’m out and about again! 💚

Today I’m visiting 3 new clients, helping them with different bits of technology in their own homes.

One of the things I love about Danielle J Connects is that no two visits are ever quite the same! It could be a phone, tablet, laptop, printer, emails, photos or simply something that’s been causing frustration for a while.

Whatever it is, we’ll sit down, go through it together and make it feel that little bit easier.

📱 Going into a new week, here’s a top tech tip from me…

☁️ “Do I need to pay for cloud storage?”

This is one of the questions I’m asked most often.

Cloud storage (such as iCloud or Google Photos) is simply a way of storing your photos, videos and files online rather than only on your phone or tablet.

Think of it like having an extra cupboard for your digital belongings.

The big advantage is that if your phone is lost, stolen or stops working, your photos and important files can often be recovered because they’re stored safely online.

💡 Do you need to pay for it?

Not always.

Most phones come with some free cloud storage, and for many people that’s enough. Others choose to pay for extra storage if they have lots of photos, videos or files.

What I often find is that people are paying for cloud storage but aren’t actually sure what it’s doing, or whether they even need it.

Before signing up to anything, it’s worth understanding:
✔️ What cloud storage you already have
✔️ How much you’re using
✔️ Whether you’re getting any benefit from paying for extra

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. For some people it’s a great investment. For others, the free option may be all they need.

My tip: If you’re paying for cloud storage and don’t really understand what you’re paying for, take a few minutes to check. You might discover it’s giving you valuable protection for your photos and files…or you might find you’re paying for something you don’t need.

It’s Friday and I’m out and about today! 💚

I’ve got a few people to visit who need a bit of help with their technology, as well as dropping off some Danielle J Connects leaflets along the way.

One of the things I love about doing this is that every visit is different , it might be a phone that needs sorting, a printer that won’t connect, help understanding a bill or simply showing someone how to do something they’ve been struggling with.

Sometimes it really is the little things that make technology feel so much easier.

A little bit about me & why Danielle J Connects exists 💚

Hi, I’m Danielle 👋

My love for helping people with technology actually started over 10 years ago, when I worked for a well-known telecommunications company.

Technology was changing quickly even then, especially mobile phones, and I was constantly being asked, “Do you do home visits?”

People didn’t always need someone to sell them a new phone. They needed someone to actually sit with them, explain things properly, answer their questions and give them the time to understand.

That was the bit I loved.

Since then, I’ve worked in digital inclusion, community engagement and advocacy, and that passion for helping people feel more confident and less left behind has just grown.

Eventually, it became Danielle J Connects.

I also work part-time for Parkinson’s UK, so this isn’t my full-time job. I fit Danielle J Connects around my other work and family life because I know there is a genuine need for this kind of support.

And I’ll admit, charging people is probably the bit I struggle with most! 😂 I genuinely believe more should be done to bridge the digital divide, particularly when so many essential parts of everyday life are now online.

But to keep offering this support, I do have to charge for my time, travel and experience.

Sometimes I’m setting up a new phone or printer. Other times I’m sorting emails, helping with forms, checking something that might be a scam, dealing with an account problem or simply showing someone how to do something themselves.

There’s no judgement, no rushing and no such thing as a silly question.

So if you have a parent, grandparent, neighbour or family member who needs a little extra patience with technology, especially if you don’t live nearby or don’t always have the time to help yourself, send me a message. 💚

💚 A little reminder that Danielle J Connects is still here!

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but I’ve still been busy behind the scenes helping people with all sorts of everyday challenges.

Over the last few weeks I’ve:

📱 Helped with Apple/iCloud, photos, emails, passwords & storage
💳 Supported someone with unwanted subscription payments and spoke with their bank to help put safeguards in place
🛡️ Helped people spot scams and stay safer online
📝 Helped with forms and paperwork, making things clearer and less overwhelming

And a big part of what I do is advocacy , being there alongside you so things feel less confusing and more manageable.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to do it all for you… you just need a calm, friendly person to help you understand it, make the calls, fill in the forms, or simply get started.

💚 No jargon. No judgement. Just practical, friendly support.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Danielle J Connects!

Every client is different, and that’s what I love about what I do.

Recently I’ve helped:
📸 Organise thousands of photos and explain how iCloud and cloud storage actually work.
📱 Support someone who had unknowingly signed up to multiple subscriptions simply by clicking through adverts and pop-ups on Facebook and other websites.

✨ A little Friday reflection…

It’s been a busy few weeks balancing my new role with Parkinson’s UK whilst continuing to grow Danielle J Connects alongside it.

This week I’ve:

🔒 Helped a family navigate internet safety as their child prepares to start secondary school.
💻 Supported an organisation with their SharePoint setup and digital systems.
🖥️ Diagnosed and fixed a home desktop computer, getting it back up and running smoothly.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to visit communities across Wales, meet some incredible people, and continue doing what I love most – helping people build confidence with technology and access the support they need.

And to top it all off, I was gifted a bottle of champagne as a thank you! 🍾

No two days are ever the same, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
