We couldn’t be prouder today (and everyday, really). This next chapter in Ireland may test you and demand a lot from you - but you were absolutely meant to be a doctor and you are more than ready for all of it!

I look at these pictures — little you and now you you — and honestly, your vibe has not changed.

You have always had this curious, kind, quietly confident way of moving through the world, and I have always thought, Yep… he’s got this.

Your adventures have gone from meeting space rangers to ending up in Madagascar studying king Julien and somehow it all still feels perfectly you.

I’m so proud of you, but even more than that, I just feel lucky - lucky to know you and too love you.

Here’s to 21. To every adventure ahead. And to that smile of yours.

Spent yesterday on a zodiac boat along the Nā Pali Coast.  The scale of these cliffs—rising nearly 4,000 feet straight out of the Pacific—is hard to wrap your head around, and impossible to capture in a photo.
Salt spray, rolling ocean swells, waterfalls drifting down the cliffs, tight runs through sea caves. Along the way we saw pods of spinner and bottlenose dolphins, and even whales out in the deep blue. 🐬🐋 There’s a quiet, powerful mana in these cliffs and valleys.

Medal Monday …

Honolulu Start to Park wasn’t exactly the race I planned.
 I came here for the Honolulu marathon, and I ran the 10K instead — not because I changed my mind, but because my right foot did. It decided 42.2 km was “a bit much” and shut the idea down. I am not even sure it is happy about the 10k.

I trained because I needed a challenge — something big - something hard on purpose. Training was not always perfect … but it kept me focused during a year where my mind was not.

EVEN though it’s not the marathon this time, I still showed up. I still got a start line, a finish line, the 3am wake up, the 5am start time and the start line fireworks.

I did not know I was getting monsoon rain, flooded roads, soaked shoes — trust me … backing out entirely would’ve been the easier choice.

I still earned the medal and I ate finish-line malasadas like I ran across the island.

The marathon will happen when it happens … just means another trip to Hawaii 🌈🌧️🏃‍♀️

This Giving Tuesday, as the holiday season begins and my dad’s birthday approaches, I’m choosing to honor his love, strength, and the way he showed up for others.

I miss him every day — and carrying his legacy forward means doing something that reflects who he truly was.

In his name, I’m supporting Renewal Canada renewalcanada to help bring hope and second chances to those still waiting for a life-saving transplant.

Our goal is $18,000 — a gift of life rooted in his values and and in his memory.

His upcoming birthday, the holidays, Giving Tuesday — all reminders to lead with purpose, compassion, and love, just like he did. 💚

Same rocks, same ocean, same two people — just 25 years of life in between.

In the past twenty-five years, we have lived and loved each other through two homes, raised two incredible sons, loved three very different dogs, and have taken more road trips, quick trips, and adventures than we could ever count. But when I look back at life over the past 25 years, it’s the simple things that stand out the most … how we’ve always faced everything side by side, building a life together our own way … to make us - us.

What I love most is that we are still at it — still planning, still dreaming, still figuring things out side by side.

Cheers to us — to 25 years of real life and real love, and to everything still waiting for us around the next corner.

23 looks good on you — maybe it’s something in your DNA. Every bit of who you are — your humour, your heart, your drive, your curiosity — has shaped you into the incredible man you’ve become.

Keep believing in yourself, working hard, and living fully. The world is wide open for you, and I know you will make your mark on it. It is yours for the taking.

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, my heart still feels heavy at times, but I also feel the strength that comes from the love and support I have received.

I am holding on to hope, and looking ahead to what the new year can bring.

This summer was filled with finding the new normal … spending time with family and friends … saying goodbye to furry friends … realizing tears can be found in the most random of places

… learning that happiness doesn’t mean forgetting. It’s okay to laugh again. It’s okay to smile and to feel light. And it’s okay to move forward while still holding the grief.

So here’s to all the moments that carried me this summer.
