This is the day it all kicked off — a little shoot on the trails and in the woods with some of Squamish’s finest. The trail run that followed laid the groundwork for what would grow into you becoming part of our ciele athletics team. I still didn’t quite realize, while we were out there, just how strong an athlete you were. Thank you Scott, for bringing her out on that fall day back in 2022.

Professionally, you were an absolute ace. A lawyer with a wealth of experience, all the answers we needed, and so easy to work with. We’re forever indebted to how much you did for us over the last 3-4 years; the problems you solved and the future-proofing you put in place will keep paying off long after. And, thank you for sharing some of that professional wisdom over the years - most recently, giving me all the tools I need to start my own business in this next career chapter on my side.

But it’s your athletic drive I keep coming back to. Not just the results — though they were seriously impressive — but the way you rearranged your whole life around chasing them. Yes, competitively, but also from a prioritization standpoint, putting time for yourself, time for training, time for traveling to compete, time for friends, and time to be an integral part of the running community. Your legal skills were so sharp, but you prioritized all of the above. You were a true embodiment of the motto “you don’t live to work, you work to live.” You deserved so much more time to stack up accomplishments and explore the mountains that you loved so dearly.

I wish I could trade some of the hours we spent talking law and trademarks for more time together on the mountains. But I’m endlessly grateful for the time we did get.

Not far away as the crow flies, but the Sunshine Coast still ends up feeling world’s apart. We went in heavy on coastal adventures - and it ended up being an amazing weekend for the books!

Big thanks to Kane from @coastlandmarine, Josh from @sunshinecoastair, and the team at @egmontadventure for showing us around in all kinds of forms and functions!

Four years ago we kicked off our partnership with @thespeedproject’s initiative to expand access to their race experiences, starting with LALV. Collectively combing through applications, the @blacktrailrunners from UK were the recipients, catalyzing their journey to the start line in Santa Monica. I flew down to crew and story tell with them, along with a dream sidekick for all of it - @gordonclark. To help document it all, we brought @kevlvphotography along as well.

It was my first LALV experience. And it was amazing to be part of the support team for BTR, driving, pacing, strategizing, moral boosting - all of it. And the joy of watching them cross the finish line - hours of effort and teamwork to get there.

Went back through the archives and reworked a few of my photos from the journey.

2026 race calendar. No pressure for the weekend, am I right @youve_scott_to_be_crazy?

Training block hasn’t been enough but I’ve been out there.

Recovery/alignment isn’t perfect but @phyhealthsocial has my back.

Tofino. Never disappoints. Childhood memories from Canada’s 125th with my fam through mini honeymoon with @erikawortmarrett and @go_van_com the week after our wedding, to adventures with our kids, building those same childhood memories for them.

It’s moody. It’s dreamy. The fog rolls off the waves into the bay, the trees and bushes get raked by the whipping winds. Even when the weather is bad there is something to love.

It was awesome to see the kids overjoyed by the ocean, giggling while jumping over crashing waves, boogie boarding and mini surf sessions.

Personally, got reminded that surfing requires practice, upper body strength, and natural talent. I seem to have none of the above. But it was still fun battling it out past the break, dropping in and hoping to pop up the right way. That feeling is pretty special.
