Last week I had to say goodbye to my beautiful cat @huxtagramble . Huxtable was my first pet that I cared for, and one of the sweetest, funniest, cuddliest, quirkiest, and happiest cats I’ve ever known. He was 8 years old when he entered my life 7 years ago and he lived a wonderful life to the ripe age of 15 years old before he had to leave this earth and make his journey to the big litter box in the sky on Wednesday June 19, 2024. Huxtable went peacefully surrounded by friends and family and lots of love

Several weeks ago I noticed that he had lost a significant amount of weight over the past few months. I also noticed that he was eating less than usual, but he still seemed like a happy, healthy and spry cat as he always has been. Upon taking him to my vet, and subsequently to a real vet that actually knows what they’re doing, a large malignant tumor was discovered in his abdomen. The vet didn’t tell me how much time I should expect him to survive but they made it clear that it was time to focus on palliative care, to make whatever time was left as comfortable as possible. They sent me home with pain meds and anti-inflammatory steroids, to hope for the best, and to check back with them in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, from that day forth, Huxtable’s health - and appetite for food, treats, and eventually even water - declined significantly every day. On Monday, 6 days after the diagnosis, it became abundantly clear that he was in pain, suffering, and no longer maintaining a quality of life worth living. I had to make the extremely difficult decision to euthanize him and end his suffering. Tuesday morning I scheduled an in-home euthanasia appointment for the following day and invited close friends to come support me during this difficult ceremony. We spent the day watching a slideshow of the 2800+ pictures and videos of Huxtable that I’ve taken over the past 7 years while i counted down the hours…then minutes until it was time to say goodbye

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to my amazing friends who reached out or came over throughout that difficult week to offer support and condolences in my time of need.

RIP Huxtable. You lived a great life 😿❤️‍🩹💔❤️💕😭🐾 by @danielpops

Many thanks to the extremely talented @thethrowzone for putting up with my sloppy passing capabilities and teaching me some new tricks. This was one of my favorite experiences all weekend #lightninginabottle #juggling by @danielpops

It only took me 2+ years but I _finally_ got these amazing handmade drawings of my beautiful cats framed! I can’t wait to hang them up!! The drawings are from a very thoughtful birthday gift from @oliviacaminitistylist, and the artist behind the drawings is the very talented @ariel.wickham. The resemblance for both @huxtagramble and @meowschkat is uncanny! by @danielpops

Well, that’s a wrap! Words can’t express the feels and experiences that took place last week at #blackrockcity. As usual the week flew by. Thanks to all who participated, led, built, struck, and overall made this year the best burn ever, as usual. Now it’s time to reflect, decompress, and prepare for next year. #nextyearwasbetter by @danielpops

I could use a lot of work when it comes to things involving crossed arms. I definitely need to drill those "Lanes of poi" and crossers drills a whole bunch more.
