Hey y’all, we have a new song to share. It's born from Hurricane Helene which tore through our town two years ago this weekend. It is available on bandcamp today (link in bio) and will be released across all digital platforms on Monday.

All proceeds from this weekend's bandcamp sales will go to these organizations. They have been essential in the immediate survival and the ongoing recovery & resilience of our area after the hurricane:

Our new single One of a Thousand is out everywhere today. Stream it wherever you get your music!

Two years ago, Hurricane Helene hit us hard. In conversations around town, it was often said that this was a one-in-a-thousand year storm, a singular geological event. Landslides and flooding on a scale never seen before and hopefully never seen again. Still in the same breath, we all seem to agree that we have to treat this as if it’s just one of many. The start of a new chapter.

Thank you for all the streams and donations over the weekend! Y’all are the best. We hope the song can provide a bit of solace in this anniversary as well as some contemplations for the future.

Artist spotlight: Daniel Shearin
@danielshearin

Daniel Shearin is a singer, songwriter and producer living in Asheville, NC and a member of the internationally touring band River Whyless. Growing up in a small town near the coast of North Carolina, he moved west to the mountains to work at Echo Mountain Recording, a new (at the time) and highly acclaimed studio in Asheville. In addition to his work there as a Grammy-nominated engineer, he now produces music from his own studio, Sleeping Dogs in West Asheville. Between the two, he has worked across many genres with artists such as Band of Horses, Toubab Krewe,The Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, Mipso to name a few. When working on his own music, he experiments with looped harmonium drones and other textures, instruments and “found sounds” to accompany his singing and finger-style guitar. He has released an eponymous EP of his solo material and several albums with River Whyless.
