I spotted these two new newsstands for The Halloween Herald on the Square in Denton — one by @recycledbooksdenton and another by @untcolab. It’s a super cool 14-page print production. I hope they do this every Halloween here in Denton “The Halloween Capital of Texas.” #PrintIsUnDead by @danieltrodrigue

Thank you to all of the staff at @rgrsdentontx and to the singers-songwriters and bands who let my Intro to Visual Communications for News class practice their photojournalism skills for their Action/Live Event Photography project on Tuesday. (That was at least two of the students’ “first concert” experience!)
I instructed the class to tag y’all in any cool photos they share.
I ran out of film far too early, giving away three frames — one to @gretchengranadaa and one to @expat.violence
Of course I regretted only bringing one pack of film, but I had to conserve my Polaroid 600 film for PolaCon this weekend.
Thank you to @alpyne.official @fromharm @missingeverybody @gretchengranadaa @troyalanmusic @starsdontmeananything @negative.x.influence @expat.violence

Just leaving the @KERA studios at One Arts Plaza where I was interviewed by @mirandayaps and @roncorning of @ntx.now about the @instantfilmsociety and @pola.con 11. The producer @cheekatx says the taped interview will air “live” this Thursday or Friday on 90.1 from 9-10 a.m. If anyone misses it, it will eventually be up on the KERA website and on Spotify.
Worth noting that I haven’t sent out any press releases for this year’s event nor for the 15th Annual IFS Rain-or-Shine PolaWalk at the State Fair of Texas, but the producer found out about us anyway and reached out to us.

September 29th, 2012

The first rain-or-shine PolaWalk at the @statefairoftx turned into all rain, gusts of wind and no shine. But the #PolaWalk was even better with all the umbrellas.

Now, to celebrate 15 years of visiting the Fair with instant film, we’re publishing a special zine for PolaCon 11. For a chance to be included in this retrospective on PolaCon history, show us your favorite instant photos from the State Fair of Texas.

Look, I am not quite sure how this portrait happened. All I know is that I did take it, I hope to make more polaroid portraits, and if I do say myself, I do believe it is fire upon fire…and you better not mess with Walter White 2.0 mfs!!!!

I can see how when just the right frame and just the right breath before you push that little red button (could Edwin Land get more Erotic with this forever legendary contraption???) can squeeze out a gem.

$Happy Ghostbusters Day to all who observe! Having recently returned from the Big Apple, I can confidently say that you’ve never really traveled through New York City until you’ve driven through Manhattan and part of Central Park in an Ecto-1. As a massive fan of the film, it was very surreal to see and hear as NYPD officers, EMTs and nearly every random New Yorker in the street greets you with an enthusiastic thumbs up, waves, dances, pulls their phones out to snap a photo or screams out “Who you gonna call?!” “Ghostbusters!” — or D, all of the above. I will forever be grateful to @polatronic_martin for “crossing the streams” of two nonprofits to make it happen as @instantfilmsociety had partnered with @nycghostbusters for a tour-meets-photo-walk with an afternoon of shooting at several filming locations of the classic movie. During some legs of the PolaWalk, @andyo7 and I rode in a replica of the “Ghostbusters” (2016) Ecto-1 — a red-and-white 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood hearse — while that unmistakable oscillating, wailing siren call that we all know and love echoed through the city’s streets. Just as the original “Ghostbusters” film begins at the iconic New York Public Library, we met at 11 a.m. on the library’s steps near the lion statues (named Patience and Fortitude). After lingering there to snap some frames, we trekked over to what’s known as “Spook Central” — 55 Central Park West, which is shooting location for the apartment of Dana Barrett and Louis Tully, and the site of the film’s climactic roof-top showdown. The building sits right next to the real-life Holy Trinity Lutheran Church from the “Nobody steps on a church in my town!” scene. Several other unforgettable scenes were shot at that intersection — where Tully runs screaming for help while pursued by a hellhound, jumping the iconic stone wall lining Central Park West before he sprints over to the Tavern on the Green. I was so excited that I shot a pack and a half of @polaroid SX-70 film. {{ Video by @benjamburk }} @pola.con @instantfilmsociety #polaconnyc by @danieltrodrigue$
