The special occasion is today. 🫶🏼 by @danihampton

I sometimes find myself just “getting through” something to get to the next thing. Moving quickly, even through lovely things. “We’ll get through Homecoming and then…” “We’ll just get through football season and then…” Fall, Halloween, the holidays. Sometimes bracing myself through what I actually enjoy very much.

When I lost my Dad years ago my grief was very loud and tangible. I knew I was rushing through the good stuff, only highlighted by the death of my father. I would remind myself and everyone else- slow down! Be present! Take your time! You never know how many days/summers/whatevers you have left! But as my amplified grief became a little more quiet, I slid right back to my baseline. So busy! So much to do! Just gotta get through this and onto the next!

It was late summer and we were on a family roadtrip, driving back from California. It was a very ordinary moment, everyone was in their own world, headphones on, podcasts or playlists or whatever else providing individual soundtracks. I looked around the car and took it in. An almost-16 year old, a 13-year old, and a 9-year old. I thought, “this is it.” Not a wild revelation really, and not sad at all, it just felt matter-of-fact. I thought- we’re on the other side of it now. We’ve moved through the beginning and onto something else. The hourglass of their childhood is turned over, more sand at the bottom than top. Here we are.

When we got home and school was starting I thought of that simple moment many times. When I found myself saying- “just gotta get through this first week,” I stopped myself. I thought of my grief from the loss of my Dad, I thought of the anticipatory grief from the loss of our now, I thought about how now, more than ever, the pause, the breath is so needed. Take it in.

So when the leaves were turning up north and our friends were game to go see them, it was a quick yes. I haven’t gone in years because we’ve been so busy…rushing from one thing to the next…but if not now, when? And I’m so glad we did 🍂 It was a beautiful day and felt so good to be so IN the season, not just getting through it. More of that. by @danihampton

What a night! ✨ We hosted the Homecoming dance pre-party over here with the help of many friends and it was SO much fun. Love getting to create special memories for the kids 💓 this time goes by way too fast so I’ll take any opportunity to gather and celebrate and enjoy! Huge thanks to everyone who pitched in, love you all! I’m already making a list of all the things I want to change/add in next year and can’t wait 😂

Comment HOCO and I’ll send a round up of all the links right to your inbox (tables cloths, lights, dirty soda bar items, light up HOCO letters, etc!). 🤍 by @danihampton

A Prescott Friday night, through @codygchewning’s lens. Magic.

Our friend Cody came out to the game last Friday and created something amazing. I’m in awe- and I asked if I could share here so everyone could enjoy. Thank you for sharing your talent with us Cody 🥹 by @danihampton

September, pls 🙏🏼 by @danihampton

We are SO excited to finally share that Olive will be dancing the role of Clara in @ybtheatre’s production of The Nutcracker this December! 🩰✨

We are overjoyed for Olive and so grateful to have a production like this right here in Prescott. No trip to Phoenix required! It’s going to be the most fun and festive weekend 🎄

One of the sweetest parts is that she’ll be sharing the stage with so many amazing dancers and friends, all of whom are working incredibly hard together to bring this production to life.

Yavapai Ballet Theater is a local nonprofit organization that we are so grateful to be a part of, and we would LOVE to see so many of our friends and family there supporting these dancers and this special production. There will be 3 shows the weekend of December 12th, and I’ll share ticket information as soon as it goes live!

Kids are growing up, we’re all getting older, and I’m trying to remember to pause and take it all in whenever I can ❤️ by @danihampton

Olive’s very first concert 🥹🐞✨

Hank somehow survived the Ticketmaster wars many months ago and was able to get @noahkahanmusic tickets for Olive’s 10th birthday! The anticipation leading up to the night was so fun and I’m pleased to report that it completely exceeded every expectation! Love when that happens! 🥲 All of our favorite songs, the sweetest friends and @chasefield full of the happiest faces all singing along.🤎 Best night! by @danihampton

Prescott to San Diego, mini road trip vlog! ☀️

We stayed at @towncountrysd- have you stayed there before? Olive and I stayed there last Fall for a dance comp and really enjoyed it. This was our second time and we liked it just as much! Dying because we booked a weekend when a dance Nationals was happening 😂 Glamour Gears and Dream Duffels everywhere. Very fun to be around the energy but not in it!

Had a great weekend supporting Henry, it was literally football, Mexican food, sweet treat, pool, repeat. We head back at the end of the month and I’d love to know what must-visit places we need to check out! Food, ice cream, beaches etc! by @danihampton

Sad for you if you understand this too ❤️‍🩹 by @danihampton
