Winter is one of my favorite times to hike in Texas. Especially the gloomy days. The color palette never ceases to amaze me, so many shades of browns and greys. The landscape in this season is totally unique and beautiful in its own right. There's something to be said for honing in on the spectacular detail in what could be seen as mundane surroundings. Came across this REALLY cool ice formation on a walk today! In all my life (which was mostly spent in upstate NY) I've never seen anything like her! After some research I learned that she goes by rabbit ice, ice flowers, and ice ribbon. When the sap inside the plant stem freezes, it causes the stem to crack. Water is then drawn out through the cracks and freezes as soon as it hits the air. More water keeps getting pulled out and freezing, making these really beautiful thin and flaky layers. Man... I have so much I wanna say but I'll try to keep it concise. It feels really good to be able to get some sessions in after not really being able to ride for a couple of months. Physical and mental health go hand in hand, and can be hard to balance at times, even when we try our best to take good care of ourselves. I wanted to post this picture because, well, I'm stoked on it, and when you feel really excited about something after not really being able to feel much of anything for a while, it's a real good reminder of why we are here. ❤️ Thanks for the snap @hackjartje and thanks for the continued support @fbmbikecompany @protec @shitluck by @danilightningbolt

Hey y'all! My 11 year old niece decided, on her own, to put together a fundraising campaign to send girls to school in India. I'm so inspired by her and proud of her willingness to help those less fortunate! She just keeps gettin' cooler ❤️. The link to donate is in my bio, if you are so inclined. A month after moving to Austin I decided to get a dog. I didn't have a car (or a house, haha) so I sold my motorcycle that was in near perfect condition and bought this 84 Buick Electra wagon so that Buck could ride shotgun. I paid way too much for it. The gas gauge didn't work (I ran out of gas pretty often), the speedometer didn't work, and the electric seat adjustment was broken. The seat was so far back that I couldn't reach the pedals, so I would drive around with my arm propped up against the back of the seat, which scooted me forward far enough to be able to drive. The headliner was falling apart as was the actual interior of the roof- if I drove with the windows down little chunks of rust would fly into my eyes (and any passengers, haha). It wasn't inspected or registered, and even with the paint job I somehow never got pulled over. I had high hopes for this one.... she ran for about 3 months. RIP Buick 🙌🏻 @nathan_expl0si0n took this photo when I picked him up from the airport. We also ran out of gas on the way back "home", which was a Motel 6 at the time 🤷🏽‍♀️ by @danilightningbolt
