When Bachir Gemayel was elected president of Lebanon in August 1982, government employees started arriving at work on time and even before official opening hours.
The Impact of His Election.
Punctunctuality and Discipline: State workers who previously showed up late or neglected their duties began arriving early.
No More Joking Around: Employees reportedly said, "There is a President named Bachir now.
There is no more joking around," reflecting a sudden expectation of accountability and strict state authority.

Since the presence and military actions of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Lebanon fundamentally destabilized the country, directly triggering a 15-year civil war (1975–1990) and the birth of Hezbollah, which led to massive Israeli military invasions (in 1978 and 1982), all educated and newly-graduated people have been fleeing the country. #Lebanon #war #lebanese #lebanesewar by @danimaurice
