Our baby boy Leo ❤️

In August, our baby boy was born, more perfect and more loved than we knew was possible. His little heart just wasn’t made for this world. 💔

In the five and a half months of growing him, and in the months since, I’ve learned so much about love, patience, bravery and strength. In such a short time, you pour so much love and care into the little life you’re carrying. You make plans and dream big dreams, and hold on to them so tightly.

We are heartbroken not to have him here with us, but I will carry him and everything he has taught me for the rest of my life. Over the last two months, I’ve found so much comfort in talking to people and sharing some of the hardest moments of our lives. Hearing the stories of others who have carried and lost their babies, and somehow found their way forward, has given me so much hope.

In sharing this, I wanted to make a little space for anyone going through something similar, or struggling with the weight of their grief, to feel a little less alone. Our babies will always be part of our families and our stories.

We’ve relied so deeply on our friends, family, and even strangers. The people who showed up, checked in again and again, hugged us, filled our fridge with food and distracted us while we tried to figure out what happens next. Every act of kindness has made me cry and reminded me how much love we had around us, and how much that could mean.

Sending so much love to those who have carried and lost their babies, and to anyone who knows this feeling in one form or another. I’m slowly learning that grief, heartbreak, hope, happiness and gratitude can all coexist. I look for my boy everywhere, and in everything I do. ❤️ by @danimcbain
