Happy National Coffee Day!! ☕️🤎

I don’t even drink coffee, but becoming a new mom has taught me it’s not always about the coffee. 😂

Sometimes it’s about getting out of the house, having an adult conversation, meeting another mom who gets it, and remembering you’re still YOU outside of being somebody’s mama.

Motherhood can be beautiful, overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting—all at once. Sometimes you don’t need another parenting tip. You just need community. 🤎

Last Friday, I hosted a Mommy Coffee Meetup sponsored by @perelelhealth and @bluestonelane, and the pumpkin spice was FLOWING! 🎃☕️ We enjoyed @Perelel’s new pumpkin chai-flavored protein beverages while sharing advice, resources, laughs, and real-life experiences.

A LOT has changed—and so have I. 🤎

Man, thank God for my momma!! Yes, I'm still pregnant. My induction date was pushed back, which messed up my Halloween plans. My momma kept saying ain't nothing stopping her from being in that delivery room. SO SHE HAD TO PROVE IT!! Lol!! I definitely got my Halloween cheer from it.

Happy 20 year anniversary to my line-sisters of the Zeta Gamma chapter at PVAMU. 💕💚

We’ve come so far… it feels like we’ve defied gravity. As beautiful as sisterhood is, it can come with some challenges. I am happy we were able to navigate them with class and maturity. Our dedication and love for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. has kept us lifted. We are only getting better with time!!

I hate that I’m missing the celebration at PV homecoming tonight but these braxton hicks have no bounds. I was this close 🤏🏾 to pulling up with scooter. Then I saw that rain was coming and couldn’t risk it. lol!!

Hi Grandmommie,

This would be the third year we celebrated your birthday without you here. @shinechaia and I honored you by having my maternity photoshoot on your birthday. It was the three of us in that hospital room when we told you that dying wasn’t an option at the time because we hadn’t had children yet. Your words, “Well, ya’ll better hurry up cause I’m getting old, hell!” lol!!

Chaia and I recently reminisced about that beautiful powder room you had at the house in Pleasantville. Even the toilet seat was plush. Everything in there was fancy, pink, and pretty! So what better way to do it than with a timeless vanity theme? I even remember that white and gold rotary phone you had.

The retro diner theme was a bonus. I think Chris and I achieved the look of the 60’s well. You were in your 30s by then and had been a member of the First and Finest sorority to ever be established for 3yrs. Adding the pictures of you in both scenes brought it all together.

While you may not be here in the flesh, you are forever in our hearts. As I walk into motherhood, I remember the amazing example you set for your grandchildren as an educator and more. I hope your smile will forever shine down upon us. I can hear your voice saying, “I know your momma is excited!” And she is!!! You have always been concerned about her well-being. That’s love!!!

Happy Heavenly Birthday!!

To everyone else, I did my big one… 40 and pregnant!! Whew chile, and do I have a story to tell!! But for now, I will just thank God for bringing me this far!!

H-Town Snow Day 2025

One thing I’m going to do is protect the harvest. The beauty of gardening is the life and energy you put into it, you get back. Super greens for super strength this winter while the spring harvest will be a bountiful variety. Every year I get closer to fruit forestry becoming my reality. All the seasons have a lesson.

Does size matter? 😬

The real answer is… it depends on what you using it for.
Luffa or Loofah, members of the cucumber family are edible and best eaten when they’re less than 6inches long.

But if you harvest the fruit too early it will be hard to peel and the seeds will be difficult to remove. Now, I come from a long line of foodies and no one has ever said, “mmm… come over and taste this delicious loofah!” So I will be drying mine and using it for a sponge which means, size does matter and the bigger… the better!!! 😌😜

Please note, loofah is an aggressive plant so in about 2 weeks all this loofah will be good compost!
